I'm torn with Scott and skinner...skinner right now is better but Scott is younger...I really like skinner though and probably should have him 1st amongst goalies....baribeau I really like his size and raw skill...dipietro the name scares me lol jk...I have not seen enough of dipetro

I haven't seen much of Baribeau because they never start him and I didn't make an effort to see him since his stats aren't too great compared to Skinner and DiPietro. I trust you on this one since you are good with this info.

As for Skinner-Scott, true enough but even jumping back to Skinners year last season he was solid as the Hurricanes main goalie. As of right now, I can't see Skinner not as #1.

You think Lodnia can jump up or is he just too small?

Hey scoutman (or anyone else with the knowelege) how do u think the 2017 draft will compare to the 2015 or 2016 drafts relating to high end talent and then drop offs?

Leafs would like to reserve Timothy Liljegren in advance please and thanks. We promise not to hoard top picks after that.

I'd say is it about the same as 2016 and worse than 2015.

Still very early though but the first round is looking pretty deep as of now.

Thanks for the response! I ask cause im wondering if the canucks should go full tank now and unload valuable pieces for this draft or wait til next deadline and ask for more when teams more desperate! Thanks again :)

Even on draft day in 2107 we won't know if the draft is strong or not. We likely won't really be able to judge for 5-10 years as a ton of players develop differently.

As of right now I would say 2018 is looking better than 2017 at the top.

Patrick reminds me of Getzlaf.
Yamamoto reminds me of Huberdeau.
Mattheos reminds me of Pavel Zacha.
Strome reminds me of Draisaitl.

That's all for now.

Thanks for sharing scoutman. I think Foote goes higher than Välimäki but only time will tell. It will be interesting watching those two next season. Mittelstadt also seems low after watching in U18s, but I'm sure you have your reasons.

Wow it's amazing that you were able to compile a list of 60 players and rank them more then a year before they're drafted. Even if people are pointing out changes that should be made, I'm very impressed.

This just goes to show how hard it is to predict prospects. The top four guys listed 3.5 years ago didn't even get drafted!

Exact....as I say 3 to 4 years in advance it is a starting point and every scout always has starting points...and at that time imo those guys were the top...but as the years go player leap frog other players...the guys who don't have the work ethic off the ice start to expose from just getting by on talent and being the best to falling way behind.

It is hard in advance to really say...but it should not stop people from taking note at that time nor does it render lists that far in advance useless either because as time goes on list start to take shift but u always need a starting point

Oh, I wasn't suggesting these lists were useless or anything. I enjoy reading all of your lists. I was more trying to say that it's really difficult trying to project prospect trajectories.

Oh it is....and that step from bantam to midget really separates a lot of players after I make one of those longe forecasted rankings....I also knew u were not saying they were useless...I put that in for people who think they are lol....I can say though...I would not want to be a whl scout who has to draft from a year away....way to hard...but it is hard trajectories
