Probably step one in making room for andersen. "Go on LTIR and we'll give you a contract next season."

Andersen has less salary remaining than our cap space right now.$732,759 remaining and $823,313 in cap space. They could do it now couldn’t they?

Side not also. Riley Nash only has $403,017 salary remaining.

No, they don't have the space currently to get Andersen back.

Sabourin LTIR, Bogosian LTIR, and sending Robertson back to the taxi squad gets them very close. If Hyman is out for longer than 24 days / 10 games, they have the space.

But moving Sabourin to LTIR doesn't give them space - they could have moved Sabourin back to the taxi squad, and removed his entire salary off the cap, and they still wouldn't have had the space.

Probably busted his hand up badly during that Lucic fight. He went straight for the icebag as soon as he got in the box.

what do they have in common? 2 things?
1. They are the grit on the team
2. They have all lost significant time with injuries

Can’t catch a break

They could have just sent him down and cleared his salary off the cap if he weren't injured.

There's no need to go through some kind of charade if he's healthy because there's no cap advantage to using LTIR instead of a demotion.

I don't think you can demote an injured player, though.

Is he on a 2-way contract (cannot find it)?
I always find that Leafs is an orginaztion very easy on their players since Dubas became the GM. So, maybe another GM's "nice" move.

Yes, he's on a two-way but its not like the Leafs are doing him a favour by putting him on the IR. Once he's injured they can't demote him. They have no choice about it.
