Scott Darling new DaveArt mask

"Welcome Scott Darling of the Chicago Blackhawks to our team.

Scott and I brainstormed a lot how to create his new Blackhawks mask. We came up with a plan, Scott and I took all the ingredients and started to sketch. A design emerged in front of our eyes, I started to create and paint.

We wanted to do a design in a totally new way, a new kind of Chicago Blackhawks mask. The design is a tribute to the spirit of the native art of America. Everything is created in the awesome colors of Chicago Blackhawks. The design is put up on the mask as a skin, and it creates the design with all the vintage effects.

The closer you come the more details you will discover, and the design transforms in front of your eyes and enters a new dimension.

The design is loaded with all the DAVEART Trademark Super FX, among them our technique GLOW FX which makes the design also delivers in the dark game intros…

We'll see how it looks on the ice. A lot of that detail will be lost to the fan unless you are up close.

Not the abominations that were Luongo's old "used toilet paper" masks, but not the awesomesauce that is Crawford's dark mask or Warren Skorodenski's mask.

Depending on his pad set up this year, I think this could actually look pretty cool on the ice. His last mask/setup was perfect though. Wish he woulda just kept that.

I like the mask and it's design. Will look good on the ice and with the Jersey on

Even though I usually prefer 'hard line' designs that look the same from the stands, or on tv, as they do up close(think Potvin/Roy in mtl/Brodeur/Luongos current one)....this is not bad compared to some Daveart hot messes I've seen.

I like the colouring, and like the black and white striped canvas/hide. Not sure about the strings, and the 'Chicago' writing on the forehead is a waste b/c it just ends up covered. I prefer to keep clutter off masks. And glow...sigh...god I hope that trend doesn't make it to goalie pads....EVER!!!

I'll have to see it live. But the mockp pics look fairly good.

I liked the Chicago one from last season.

I liked it in images but during games you couldn't see it.. maybe a great HD shots I was missing but the design of the navy Pier Ferris wheel & other things on it didn't show up well on the ice.

I think some DaveArt things look good in games, but yeah when the images show up they look too jaunting and muddled with stuff going on.

Well, that's an absurd response. This guy is designing masks. I have an opinion that they suck. I'm allowed to have, and voice, that opinion regardless if I make masks. Period.

By this logic we could never voice the opinion that a player performed poorly, since none of us on this forum have a hope in hell of making the NHL.
