Nate Davis from Miami also made the roster. Good to see the USA giving some young talented college players a chance.

a. this is not the Olympics, he's not going to be practicing against top level players, they will be NHL players, but they're not franchise players, and most aren't even 1st liners. So the "experience" won't be all that valuable.

b. International experience is gained at the U-18's, U-20's, and spenglers and also the WC. But if you're going, you should actually be good enough to play. Take Tavares for Canada, could have taken this year, but didn't because he wasn't ready, when he's good enough, he can go. The outcome? Canada won, and if Tavares is good enough next year, he'll go when he's ready for the experience.

c. if you don't plan on winning this tournament, what year do you plan on winning it? The next year are you just gonna take more people for experience, are you just gonna test people the next? What about the 2010 Olympics, should you just prep players who might be good in 2014? Of course not, you play every tournament to win.

Okay comapring a forward to a goalie is just wrong and then comparing the WC's to the U-20's again wrong. Tavares did not make that team because they wanted to go with a more experienced lineup. In the WOrld Championships only two goalies will most likely play and then they thougth instead of taking a career backup, in boucher they decide to give some valuable experience to what could be their starter down the road. Just being at practices and working with NHL level goalie coaches and NHL goalies will be good for him. He might get a start he might not thats not what this is about. THe U-20's are completely different and hoepfully you know that. They are no "extra" roster spaces players can use for gaining experience like a third goaltender or 8 defenseman or 14-15th forward. Everyone going to U-20's expects to play even the 13th forward.
