If you were building a franchise, which one would you take and why?

Schenn seems to be the safest but Tarasenko has an intriguing ceiling.

If Tarasenko is staying for his career, him. I like his offensive abilities.

Schenn if the Russian factor is in play. So I guess I'd actually be leaning towards Schenn just with the uncertainty of Tarasenko.

    Schenn. More complete player

offensively Tarasenko would probably have a slight edge tho

I'd probably take Tarasenko, more offensive and isn't scared of physical play. I like his game. Wouldn't mind getting "stuck" with Schenn either

I like Tarasenko.....there's really no weakness in his game.
Great offensive instincts, not a liability defensively, good skater, gritty, built like a tank, has wicked shot, a fantastic leader.

Reminds me of a more creative and offensively gifted version of Nikolai Kulemin.

Great write up, i disagree on gritty tho, he's good at protecting puck but he doesen't hit very often, isn't rought player but tought to play against. But his offensive instincts like you say are off the chart's, great leader. Is he better offensively than Brayden Schenn i don't know i have a feeling that Schenn is the better offensive player here. It's a close one tho. Tarasenko being my top 3 favourite prospect's but Brayden Schenn is a hard player to pass. I don't know, toss up.

Here's live stream from Sibir(KHL)-pelicans(FEL) tarasenko is 91 i think. Sibir is the team with white jerseys

Game ended pelicans won 3-2 after shootout.

As far as I remember Tarasenko beat already Schenn once, when it counted the most...

Tarasenko is good, but come on...Schenn is easily the superior prospect right now.

Other than Ovechkin and Malkin, none of the highly touted Russians that have been drafted since the lockout have impressed me as much I expected them too (especially the ones coming right from the RSL/KHL). The best has probably been Anisimov, and he wasn't really hyped at all when he was drafted.

That's why I question whether Tarasenko (or Kuznetsov for that matter) will have as big of an impact as everyone thinks.

Tarasenko was the best player on the ice in the third period when it mattered most. I think he had 4 points (maybe 3 but im pretty sure 4) of the 5 goals scored in that third period. Tarasenko beat Canada.

Hard to say. Schenn is definitely a complete prospect, and I can see him being a 70-point, two-way player at his peak. Tarasenko is more intruiging, his offensive skills suggest more PPG, and he doesn't seem to suck defensively or physically either. Being a swing-for-the-fences guy, I'll take Tarasenko.

Schenn all day long. Tarasenko is has the upside, but everyone is googing over him like we're talking about a young Ovy or something.

Tarasenko was the best, but he scored only 2 points (game tying goal and primary assist for game winning one). But it was his leadership that played the main role.

No, yeah it is, I was over exaggerating quite a bit.

Honestly though, I don't know who I'd rather have cause Schenn looked very good in that tournament as well. Pretty much dominating the round robin. Both should be very good.

Kuznetsov was the best in quarterfinal. Tarasenko was the best in final.

That's it? I was almost positive he had at least three but I'm probably wrong.

The fact Schenn is Canadian and not a thread to KHL it just adds more reasons why I'd take him.
