Eh. Who cares about tattoo's. Your family or anyone shouldn't be concerned about anything other than your health (you don't go to a dive that reuses needles or unsterile equipment / ink so you don't get hepatitis or something worse.... or that you don't get one on your face or somewhere visible that employers can see.
Outside of that, who cares what you choose to do with your body.

Don't get curse words / extreme violence / gang affiliation ink done either, that is counter productive =P

I got one when I was 18 with my then lady friend. I got my ink on my right arm, on the tricep, just below my shoulder. Can't see it if I wear a t-shirt, only with my shirt off or a tank-top. No problem at all.

My brother has two on his left arm, same thing, around his bicep and tricep just below shoulder.

Our parents were the same way, 'we don't like tattoo's and they make you look trashy, but we can't stop you, but if you must get one - don't get anything you will regret and don't get it on your face or where employers can see.'
The thing is, I'm 33 years old, I'm not exactly rebelling here. Hell, I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, gamble, I'm a pretty damn boring person all things considered haha. My oldest brother has tattoos so it's not like this is new, either. My mother in-law is even worse about it despite 3 of her 4 girls having tattoos. She's just downright rude to her kids (who are all grown ass women) about it.

There will be no words involved, nothing even remotely gang related or violent haha. I want my entire inside of my forearm done so it will be visible at work if I roll up my sleeves which I usually do but we have people tatted right up in senior management so that doesn't make a bit of difference. Plus I've already been promoted to as high as I want to go so I really wouldn't care either way.

I guess I'm just a little naive, I figured most people wouldn't care in this day and age. I mean, I know plenty of chicks with full sleeves that would make the Undertaker jealous and I think nothing of it. Face tattoos are a little much but in the end, meh, whatever floats your boat.

I do however want to get one REALLY well done. I have friends who got a buddy to do their's and they just look terrible.

Anybody here have tattoos? I'm thinking of finally getting one on my forearm. My wife has several tattoos that are well done and have a lot of meaning for her. I've always liked the look of (well done/placed) tattoos but could never really settle on something for myself. I finally thought of a design that I think would look great and have a lot of meaning for myself and what I'm into....and I pretty much get **** on by older family members who think all tattoos are ugly and have a "why would you do that to your body" mentality. What really ****es me off is they then basically trash the fact that my wife has tattoos.
It's your body, not theirs, so f*** what they think mate.

I have a few tattoo's and my gf has quite a few herself. I still plan to get more, no one else in my family has tattoo's except for me, as for my gf, she's got a few but her sister is quite heavily tattooed (a full sleeve and both legs with thigh tattoos and a few other smaller ones, her bf is very heavily tattooed, he has some on his head, to each their own).

Yeah man... do whatever you want. I said what 'not to get' just out of my opinion on that. My only suggestion could be to you if you decide to get one is, just make sure it's nothing you will regret, like say, a heart with your girlfriends name in it, ya know what I mean? Then you break up and are think, well, so glad I decided to get this bitches name tattoo'd on me... not like it's forever or anything.
heh..

Mine wasn't a rebelling thing either. Just because I haven't gotten one in 20 years doesn't mean I don't want more either... I do. Just never got around to it.

Wifey has no tats, but from what I remember she said she wouldn't mind it if she ever got one... don't know what or where it would be. I also remember her saying she'd rather get a boob jobber over tattoo if she had to choose.

People can do wahtever they want with their bodies...

I pledged only to get a facial tattoo to coincide the first time I killed another man. Maybe the teardrop route... or ya know, one of those 3d ones that looks like I have a terminator / metal skull. hah.. that'd really f*** with people walking around with that.

Well I'm married so if I was stupid enough to have a gf AND put her name in a tattoo, I wouldn't live long enough to regret it anyway, but I know what you mean haha. My dad actually had an ex's name tattooed on his knuckles on one hand and "love" written on the other hand when he was 16. Surprise surprise, said girl wasn't my mom lol. So he got her name covered up with the suits of playing cards. I wonder how many people thought "man, that guy must love playing poker, but I never see him play".

My tattoo is going to incorporate both a hobby/passion of mine I have loved doing for literally as long as I can remember (30+ years) along with my roots of growing up in the country (and now once again living in the country in the middle of nowhere). Even if my love of that pastime wanes, I'll still have all of those memories tied to it from throughout the years. Plus it's not like I will ever hate nature and being immersed in it.

You live in the Yukon somewhere, correct? I remember we talked about that awhile ago.

Oh, you said you want one done really well, I forgot to ask you, do you know how most artists do the process? If you go with the design or drawing or whatever that they already have made up from their book, (or they have to draw yours up personally) they lay out the tattoo on your skin and draw over it. Kinda like trace paper. That is how mine was done at least.

Some artists can get very expensive -or- if you have a friend or know someone personally (and they are good) they can do it a hell of a lot cheaper. My one buddy who was a dj, got a record needle and arm from his elbow to his shoulder done by his friend for like 20 bucks. Pretty good too.

hahah yeah, lot of people have the same problem as your pops.... gotta have some restraint on the impulse thoughts.

That does not sound like a boring person at all. Sounds like someone who has their priorities straight.
I dip pouch tobacco, no smoking. I quit drinking almost a year ago. No drugs. Only gambled at a casino once to try it and at cards with friends a few times in the military to kill some time - adding money to cards or something (even it's for quarters or a dollar makes it more fun - gives it some incentive for everyone to put in some effort).

Quitting drinking was the best thing I ever did. So much more productive. Lost the beer weight. Don't ruin entire days with hangovers. Don't make stupid decisions / drive drunk / cheat on wifey. Have a few extra bucks. Spend the time elsewhere... oil painting - rarely, but I have the setup ready and paints, brushes etc or sudoku (current time dump) or spending extra time with the kid-o.
Countless positives go along with quitting drinking, while the positives that go WITH drinking are basically nothing.

It's definitely not a popular choice - alcohol abstinence - here on hfb =P or among friends. Some reason there is a stigma that goes with telling people you don't drink, they either think you are an ex-alcoholic that had a problem with substances or got into real trouble where you are forced to stop. It's weird how people react when you say you don't drink.

It's more or less being respectful to the rest of the families, like now I know one is a coach because he was a basketball coach, but the rest of those families, they should do a better job of reporting it as such, out of respect to the rest of those families that are suffering as well.

I can’t imagine those families really give a f*** about that right now (or ever really).

As a name, for that wanker.

I do not like his music.

lol.. yeah he is a wanna-be, snitch, no talent f*** face, mental head case, psychotic loser. I can't believe the guy actually attained actual 'celebrity' status. That is even more shocking that there are thousands of people out there that like his music.

People can do wahtever they want with their bodies...

Except when their family is cutting them out of the will for it.

Or they live in an area where there are no doctors to approve what they want to do with their bodies.

That is just another reason to get one where nobody can see it with clothing on.
Yeah... there are a lot of 'what if's and what not that goes into getting a tat.
Up to the individuals discretion.

My mother is another one who believes that getting a tattoo means you are trying to be rebellious. She'll be gobsmacked if she ever sees me with one.

She would never remove me from her will, but her view of me would really change.

I ultimately chose not to, not only because it would have pissed off my family, but also because what I would have gotten (and anyone paying attention to my avatar pic knows what it would be) isn't exactly ultra-original.

It's so weird to have that take still, now you see scrawny wankers with neck tats that are baristas at Starbucks, when it used to be that neck tats were on criminals and gangsters, people you would cross the road when you saw. Now it's a hipster things, you see CEO's, business men, cops, etc that openly show full sleeves and tattoo's. The stigma of it is still a stigma with some very old fashioned people, but otherwise, I still find it odd people care.

My gf's sister, her boyfriend has a tattoo of a feather that breaks apart into tiny penises instead of birds.

Why?

Because he just felt like it, lol.

They can piss right off.
There have been a few 'in the works' for awhile now.
Don't go all acting like you don't want more 'splosions going on with mindless battles between robots stuck in a battle until death that Earth is lucky enough to be involved in where only michael bay can save us all.
