We have done scouting reports on the Sharks top 3 prospects plus one sleeper as part of our summer TSP series. Note that we did not include 2015 draft picks, but scouting reports on Timo Meier and Jonathan Roy (and other 2015s) are included at the top of the page. We link to their 2015 draft reports as so few games have been played since they were written that we don't bother re-doing the report.

Mueller's top end speed is pretty elite, he freaking skated down Gaborik ffs, what more do you want from the guy?

Also, the Meier hate continues, and continues to be absurd.

He has to skate down Phil the Thrill in OT game 7 of the cup finals, steal the puck then skate past every single penguin and score on the breakaway.

The article does note that 2015 draft picks aren't included because they were reviewed in another piece.

So let's not go crazy about Meier not being there. I do somewhat question including O'Regan over Donskoi or Tierney (who the piece explicitly says is still basically a prospect by their criteria). I guess O'Regan is just more "interesting" because he's one of those high-skill, high-ceiling guys with a major red flag on his profile (size), and people like reading about boom-or-bust type prospects?

O'Regan is not ranked ahead of Tierney.... just to be clear.

How it works is that the top 3 can be drafted in any round....

So Chartier beat out Tierney for #3, and Tierney was #4.

The sleeper is not the fourth best prospect... but a prospect we choose to highlight who wasn't drafted in the top 3 rounds... He's not ranked there, just a player we like who came from later in the draft. Its not even a ranking of O'Regan vs Donski, just someone choosen to be highlighted in that spot. So yeah the Sleeper pick is someone "interesting" who doesn't have the hype of a high draft pick, and there is no ranking number assigned.

What Meier hate?

We included his draft profile. We've done that for all 2015 draftees including Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel.

The fact is we do 800 word scouting reports on draft eligibles in May and June. Our scouting report at that time is based on somewhere between 90-100% of the games that player has played in the 2014-15 season. The report, in most cases, will not change between may and august, there just isn't enough games, so instead of duplicating the work that was already done, we link it and discuss four other prospects (the three best from the organization pre draft, and one "sleeper")

The quality of the 2015 picks will be included when the organizational rankings come out (afte all 30 teams are reviewed), and they will be ranked in our top 50 prospects list (though that might become a top 75).

Fair points but disagree on Chartier > Tierney. I think Tierney's the much better prospect as it stands. He should turn heads next season.

Was okay not seeing Tierney as to me he's no longer a prospect but to then state he is, and not include him is absurd. He's easily #2 if not #1 in our pool in that case

I didn't even notice that O'Regan was supposed to be a sleeper pick. It's mentioned in that italicized intro spiel that there will be a sleeper writeup, then never brought up again.

Maybe in the future you should clearly demarcate the ranked top 3 prospects and the sleeper one. And if you have a list of guys who didn't make the cut but you did rank in some capacity (as you allegedly have Tierney at #4) maybe that complete ranking should be featured at the beginning or end of the article.

For example, after discussing the pool in general, provide a list of #1 through #5 (or wherever you choose to stop ranking) and your sleeper pick, then proceed with the detailed writeups. It would just make things a lot more clear. And it would give you a place to put links to the draft profiles for prospects that aren't getting a fresh writeup so that it stands out and doesn't appear as if guys like Meier are being ignored.
