And that's why you bring guys like Knuble on board. Keep the camp going without anything disrupting it, and he can fill in when people drop like flies.

Not surprised one bit.

Hopefully the Wings call up Nyquist* and he takes over Sammy's spot permanently.

*Just kidding, Holland is going to sign Knuble and he will be the 1st call up.

At least it isn't a big gun, imagine how Calgary fans feel with Iginla doing this same thing.

There are going to be a lot of injuries this year, the big thing for us is that they don't happen to Z, Datsyuk, Kronwall, and Howard.

Not much any more than any other year.

Some players stayed in top shape, some did not. And without a true training camp, this year will be different. Just like the athletes in the NFL and NBA the last couples years of their shortened seasons, the team with the best depth found themselves in much better positions at the end of the seasons.

This is what happens when you sign 36 year old vets instead of letting the young guys play, this guys groin is injury prone.

Again, no different than any other year. Hockey's a sport where you've always got 2-3 guys on the IR ... or just about to go on IR.

It's a bit different because at normal season you have longer training camp, and more practise games, where Wings have used double roster to avoid pushing guys too much. Now we can't do that because junior leagues and AHL is running at same time.

Now they will start playing with 23-player roster limit, so you can't get that smoother start for guys. That could lead more to minor injuries. I think we will see those Griffins guys up in the first games, who are waiver free.
