GOOD: MILLER

Ryan_Miller.jpg

If Miller had some legit defense in front of him, he would he be a vezina candidate. Honestly, hes standing on his head for these lifeless **** suckers. I think this year he has been outstanding. Hes keeping us in games for period after period of "dumb" hockey. For example..last night, 4 PK in a ****ING ROW? "DUMB" HOCKEY, THEY KNEW COMING IN THIS GAME THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEIR LEGS UNDER THEM. Jesus, these guys haven't been this bad in their own zone since the '04-'05 lockout.

Good:
-Hodgson. He has improved his faceoffs and really creates. Sometimes he gets a little bit too... uhm... nervous? Maybe? And he loses the puck while trying to handle it, but he's been solid this year, and especially in the last few games.
-The Ennis goal was beautiful
-I liked Sekera. I think he played too many minutes though and it caught up to him.
-Ehrhoff has consistently been our best DMan.
-Ryan Miller was very, very good.
-Kaleta pounding the piss out of Campbell was great.
-Pominville was good as well on the whole. His offense was a bit stagnant, but I liked what he brought.

Bad:
-Vanek/Vanek's ice time. Bruins killer and he's not on the ice. Part of the problem was stupid penalties all game long which put us in PK mode quite often. I also wonder if the groin is a bit of an issue, but we'll find out. Hard to be too hard on Vanek, he's been our best player by far this year. He gets a pass.
-Puck movement/pass receiving. I don't understand why we always put the puck around the boards in the offensive zone when there are players open in center ice. Is that Lindy's system? If so, his system sucks.
-Foligno not converting on the beautiful feed from Gerbe in the first. The net was wide open.
-Hecht's effort on defense in the first minute of the game when he let his man get off the check and put one directly on Miller point blank. That would be getting a lot more attention if Miller didn't save his ass. Hell, Hecht's effort in general seemed uninspired.
-McCormick was among our leading shot takers. Our top goal scorers, VHP, combined for less shots than he took... 3-2.

Ugly:
-Our rookie, the guy who our brass chose to keep up instead of sending him back down to the Q... Healthy scratched for... Jochen Hecht. Stupid. Lindy Ruff is killing our prized rookie right now and it's not even funny.

Toxic team is toxic. Reminds me of when Bowman was canned early in a season... think it was 86-87. Ran out of answers, "developed" a team of trash.

The Ruffski-Darcington duo are heading in the same direction... the staleness of it is really horrid.

Good analogy. They had all quit on Bowman and even Bert decided he'd had enough and retired early in the year. Lowest point of Sabre existence (until the bankruptcy) and the reason I despise Bowman. Great coach, terrible, terrible egomanical GM.

Yep, I unfortunately remember it well.

What's pathetic is flipping between the Sabres and the Walking Dead and not seeing any real difference in the energy levels.

Or as my son asked during the game: "dad, why don't they care?"

Bad - played the night before
Ugly - three days rest for the Bruins

I think this time you should not be too critical. That was a tough one. Ugly that it was the Bruins ...
At least Kaleta has beaten the **** out of one B :yo:

Not to toot my own horn here (as I rarely comment anymore...or ever really did for that matter) but after reading this entire thread, there were 2 HUGE things that I thought about that no one touched up on...
and they were:

1) Freshness. Did it occur to you guys that since Wednesday the Bruins had only played one game prior to tonight (well, last night)? Since their game with Tampa was postponed they were probably itching to go! I didn't expect anything more out of Buffalo from tonight, who by the way, since Wednesday had played 2 games in addition to this one, and were much more recent. I was actually quite shocked Ennis managed to tie it up for a bit. And no one should be knocking Khudobin either, that guy's always been solid wherever he's been.

2) Vanek's ice time - THE REASON for it. It wouldn't shock me, but there could be still something lingering on from that groin pull he got in the Canadiens' game. I seriously doubt Lindy would have given him less than 19/20 minutes otherwise unless he was consciously aware that he was battling something here.

If we get a repeat of tonight's game come next Friday then I'll eat my own words.

The lack vanek's ice time could also be attributed to the fact Buffalo could not get out of their own zone to save their life. If I have to see Buffalo defensemen go to leave the zone but before they do they circle back, I will cry. There were multiple moments where I think it was Weber and and I want to say Sekera(I'm probably wrong) they were coming out and they stopped at the blueline. and circled back and lost the puck because of a forechecker.

I didn't even watch the game live. Actually, when they replayed the game It was my white noise to help fall asleep.

They need a new coach. This is the same system Ruff has had this team play since 07-08 with a few minor tweaks.

Good: Miller

Bad ... Linesmen at faceoff dot...

Ugly: Puss Marchand being confronted by Ott and hiding behind a curtin of McQuaid and Bergeron while chirping back.

I'm turning over a new leaf now. Only positive stuff!

Good:
Christian 'Hoff is really really good. Easily worth his cap hit, he's been our best defenseman by leaps and bounds this year. He almost never makes mistakes, creates offensively, and makes a ton of clutch plays to disrupt scoring chances.

Ennis has been pretty good as of late. I still worry about his vision and passing, most of the offense he creates seems to be only for himself.

Miller just owns the Bruins. If Enroth had been in his place the last two games they would've scored 15+ goals, instead they got 6 while he was in the net.

Kaleta drawing the instigator and then smashing Campbell's face in anyways. We're 2-0 against the Bruins in fights. I have no idea why McCormick and Scott are in the lineup if they aren't going to drop the gloves.

LOL. Good try, but its impossible with this team.

I really would like to see Myers and Grigs back in next game.

Spoiling our prized prospect to possibly sneak through a back door into the playoffs is idiotic.

The Good -

- Miller was stellar.
- Watching Campbell get fed by Kaleta.
- Lots of blocked shots. Lots of hits.
- Ennis converting on his best chance. Nice feed from Stafford.
- Ehrhoff's diving backcheck on Marchand.

The Bad -

- Not many shots.
- Defensive zone coverage gaffs.
- Defensive zone puck security -- just ******.
- Regehr looked slower than ever. Being slow is one thing, being just as soft on the puck as the rest of the defensemen is just terrible.

The Ugly -

- Defensive zone everything, really.

I've noticed Regehr getting beat and not really punishing anyone in the corners in msot his games. Not sure what his deal is but he needs to be much tougher to play against.

Bad: Gerbe close to or leading forwards in minutes....WTH!?

I'll also add to the bad/ugly Lindy Ruff's love affair with Jochen Hecht. He continues to think that Jochen is some defensive zone specialist who is great at draws. The fact is he is not good at draws nor is he any type of defensive specialist.

Our defensive zone play is a joke. The Bruins were toying with us.

Vanek did have his worst game, but I want to slap Lindy Ruff.

The good: Miller and Kaleta's fight

The Ugly: everything about the 2013 Buffalo Sabres. They are an awful hockey team, that gets outplayed by everyone, plus they are boring. They are the only team that plays defense first and still gives up tons of glorious scoring opportunities each game. I love watching the opponents cycle them to death.

No, Foligno got a nice pass first, and lost it when he tried to cross over as Khoudonban sprawled. Later in the period Foligno made the cross ice, net-mouth feed that gerbe shanked.

Well, that's not the first night that Hodgson had a good night at the dot. I hope he's working on them and learning.
