So what your trying to tell me is Eichel was a bad linemate when Reinhart was on RW with Eichel as his center.

Think you missed the "or" in there, chief. Eichel is an amazing guy to play on a line with. Kind of stops you from playing C if that's your thing, though.

Watching him the last 5-6 games against the bruins.... That guy is really good. Best player on either team in at least 2 of those games. I'd give him $8m in Boston.

Way to misinterpret what I wrote. Try again: "EITHER as winger OR a center with bad linemates".

Sam playing on Jack's wing obviously worked well for that line, but kept Sam from developing as a C and from driving his own line, something he's now doing.

Hopefully re-signed in Buffalo long term. We'll see how much of that bridge we've burned with 2 prove-it deals back to back, as well as being a terrible org.

19 points in 19 games since moving to centre, mostly between Victor Olofsson and Jeff Skinner.

It's annoying because he was drafted as a centre, Dan Bylsma decided to stick him at wing, and then it just stuck for 6 years and 3 coaches. This is his first real sustained opportunity at centre and he's looking like a 1C (too early to declare him one, but he looks the part right now).

Sounds awfully similar to Bennett, he’s just a better player and playmaker than Sam B.

In terms of what is best for Reinhart and his development as a player, yes Eichel was a bad linemate for Reinhart to play with. Playing with Eichel, Reinhart deferred to Jack more often than he should've, not to mention Jack away from the puck isn't the best support player. Playing with Jack hindered getting the most out of Reinhart. Plus, the coaches limited getting the most out of Sam because they viewed him as a playmaker from the RW, which is comical and hurt Sam's chances of getting the most out of him.

For Reinhart's development, he should've been put in position to be with players that can work give an go's to breakdown teams' structure. It's why his play with ROR, was levels above what he was doing with Jack.

Jack is more of a one man show that if he can control the pace, he just needs guys to work on getting the puck loose (a weakness in Reinhart's game), and to get open (Sam's mobility in his skating to do that is effective, but not a strength).

Sam chooses arbitration ......gets a higher one year deal than his qualifying offer.Forces his way out of Buffalo with a trade for a 1 st and spare parts @ the trade deadline.

He then gets to play his first NHL playoff game of his career! And all the options he wants in the summer of 2022!
