I thought they signed him to a three year deal, with the first being his rehab year (which is why he signed cheap, in return for them paying for his rehab, he gave up his short-run leverage if he had a full recovery).

They did sign him for 3 years. He signed in June 2018.

You are right they did sign him to a three year deal but 20-21 is the third year. Time flies when you are rehabbing ACLs. Samuel Morin
