That would leave Tampa with under 6 million with only 18 contracts and needing to re-sign Point. Jeez. And they get to do it all over again next season when Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev and Vasilevsky are RFAs.

Now after 2 years Bergevin finally holds the cards...very very sneaky of him. :vhappy:

All the GM’s will be begging him for all that valuable Cap Space.
Go Habs Go!! :towel:

He better use that advantage to do something more than just snag a Joel Armia from another team. William Karlsson and Shea Theodore should be two guys he asks about.

in those moments I love our crazy cap space. We will probably make an other deal in the Armia type

Gusev ?

Another Armia-level player is the last thing we need on this team. We need a big fish. If we can't get a big fish from a team in need of cap space, then wait and go after it on July 1st or in a conventional trade. No point wasting salary cap on dime-a-dozen players.

Explore avenues to steal Meier out of San Jose.

It's troubling at the rate the cap goes up every year in the NHL...seems more like the growth you'd associate with a 2nd rate sports league, not a major one.

Isn't Gusev supposed to be a lot better than Armia or am I mistaking him for somebody else

same type of deal, not the same type of player, hence why I said Gusev.

Gusev would be ideal in MTL, you then trade a winger for Leddy or a package for Ghost or Fowler

He hasn't played a single NHL game. This team needs proven value. Enough with the bargain-bin/low-risk deals. Just. f***ing. Do. It.

I've said it countless times, if by July 3rd this team is not significantly improved, Bergevin should be KICKED out the door.

All I've heard seems like Bergevin is happy with his lineup except a back up tender so we may not see any changes to the skaters.

Gusev and Theodore are two players I'd like to target out of Vegas.

Not only does Vegas have very little cap space to work with, but between their NHL and AHL free agents (both RFA and UFA), they have 21 contracts up. Obviously they won't sign everyone. But that is a lot of contracts to have on your desk with so little room to work with.

Was an extra million really going to help the cap-strapped out that much?

Some teams play it very very tight. Look at the list. I remember one year when the Canucks constantly sent players to the AHL when they had 2-3 days between games just for incremental savings.

They always want some room at the deadline as well (which is pro-rated).
