The only real positive here is that he is a respected vet leader. That said, so was Hutton. This team is absolutely starving for veteran leadership, it’s pretty much Anderson and Okposo

You know what? Craig was solid last night in a way that few Sabres goalies have been since Miller. He wasn’t jumpy. No softies. Solid. Pretty good signing.

I said it as soon as he signed - Anderson is a perfect vet backup/1B best case type. Great leader, great in the room etc.

He would have been a fantastic signing for that purpose @1yr/750k

I'm not looking to the idea of him playing 40+games though...

He was very calm last night. It'll be interesting to see if he shows that against teams that press the Sabres defense harder - it's not like the Habs imposed much forecheck or bodied their way through anyone. Calm and square, getting the job done, was good to see.

Craig Anderson Pro Reads | InGoal Magazine

Veteran Craig Anderson is widely regarded among his puck-stopping peers for his ability to read plays and shots. In fact, former teammate Chris Driedger went so far as to tell us that the 39-year-old Anderson, a pending unrestricted free agent, has “the best reads in the NHL.”

His ability to read the play is unlikely to go away with age.
