Laine needs to get more opportunity, klef has to recover back to 2 seasons ago form and then some. Trouba needs to stay healthy and then get to a new level. My only concern and it isnt as big as the other group is Dahlin taking another step or 2 from right now.

Right now..and in the past Laine wasn't far ahead either imo. Marners higher ppg, better all around play, ability to play all special teams closes the goal scoring ability of Laine. Like I said Laine needs more minutes and better linemates. Otherwise he for sure would be ahead.

Eichel isn't far off in ppg to scheif despite being a fair bit younger.
Marner has more dimensions to his game and is getting ice time. Literally not a knock on Laine he needs to play more.

Scheifele first 3 full seasons in the NHL he had 34, 49, and 61 points as a 20, 21, and 22 year old. Eichels first 3 seasons had him at 56, 57, and 64 in his 19, 20, and 21 year old seasons. Eichel has been the better player at comparable ages, isnt that what we keep being told is important?

No I'm saying at the same point in their careers Eichels better, at the same ages Eichel is vastly better. When Scheifele had poor quality of team mates he didnt score anywhere near what he does today and Eichel has been pretty good with poor quality team mates. Switch players and situations and Eichel is the better player to this point. If I were taking a line for one game today I'd take Scheifele, if I were taking one player I'd take Eichel.
