Why do I constantly see Schremps name in relation to Strome? Isn't Strome like 4 inches taller & a far superior skater & willing to go into the corners or infront of the net? That doesn't sound like the Schremp I've watched.

I recently got the NHL Vault which allows you to watch past games and man do I not miss Schremp at all . He did regress from year 1 on the Island to year 2 and the talent around him increased which made him more expendable and his offensive skills didn't stand out anymore. And as you pointed out, his lack of interest in the corners/boards, driving to the net and defensive play made him and easy target for the waiver wire. His passing skills and powerplay skills are terrific though, it should be able to be enough to get a job as a depth 3rd liner and pp specialist.

And based on what I've read, Strome is not like that.

And also, it is getting a bit annoying that whenever a player makes a nice move in the SO he gets related to Schremp.

Spin-o-rama?

Classless :sarcasm:

Someone call the lightning, I have a feeling their players may want to comment

Schremp needed motivation, and he was pretty much never motivated with the Isles.

He looked alright last season with the thrashers though. Like he got waived and it finally dawned on him that he actually needed to try.

In one rookie scrimmage Strome put on more effort than Schremp did in his rookie year.

Later, in the shootout at the end of the game, Rhett Rahkshani did the Stamkos spin-o-rama move copied by Tomas Jurco. He ALMOST did it successfully, but he hit the goalie right in the leg pads. Oof. He had feet of net to the right where he could have put it in.

It has become a ridiculous theme on this website.

Find a prospect with nice hands that isn't a viking on skates, compare him to Robbie Schremp.

We've heard it about Kadri as well, even though their games are in no way similar.

Anyways, that was a ridiculous goal. No questioning this kid's talent level. The Isles could have a real gem.

The best thing about Strome is he's just a kid. He looks like De Haan in his draft year (although considerably more extroverted).

He's nothing like Schremp. Somebody on the Isles board (I apologize for forgetting who it was) compared him to Ribiero. That makes more sense, but I hope he gets quicker.

Cheers,

It was just for fun. He's going to be a good player in the near future.

I think that Strome has the skating and skill to play in the NHL

he needs to improve his strength

hopefully he returns to the OHL and continues to add muscle because the Islanders can certainly use him at some point, the question is where will the team be when Ryan finally makes the club

Same thing could be said about Huberdeau. I saw him yesterday in a club. He looks skinny and a normal 18 years old kid.
