I'm surprised there hasn't been much talk on O'Reilly this year outside of when he got traded. On a struggling Blues team he was the only bright spot on the season. Now that the Blues are playing up to the level they were thought to be playing at all year, O'Reilly continues to lead the Blues and is pushing them back into a playoff spot.

O'Reailly is currently on pace for his best season ever with only 8 more points until his career high while he still has 28 games remaining. He currently has 55 points in 54 games while still maintaining a +20 rating as the teams #1C, playing PK, and the Blues very poor start this year. He's been one of the top faceoff guys this year and honestly is the main reason the Blues are even still in the playoff hunt this year. I've seen plenty of Blues fans wanting him to get the C from Pietrangelo. What are your thoughts on Ryan O'Reilly's great year?

You act like Sobotka gets 18 minutes of ice for nothing and Tage belongs in the AHL .. wait. Oh. :(.

Awful trade but it happened, I'm cool with focusing on O'Reilly killin it in STL. Good for him.

This thread was not brought up to talk about the trade. It is simply to talk about how well O'Reilly's season has been so far, so let's try and stay on track with that.

I was browsing through the top point-getters (I won't mention the other names which surprised me to not derail though feel free to take a look!) and I was amazed by ROR's performance. I am sure he definitely has been a big part of the Blues' comeback from a meh start to the season. I will be honest, I am mildly concerned of the idea of playing against the Blues in the first round mainly because of him. I hope y'all get the 7th seed (or the Flames just dodge them somehow else). Who have his common linemates been? Is he playing with Tarasenko?

He started off the year playing with Tarasenko. Tarasenko was not back to normal after his surgery so he was the one setting up ROR. Then Perron was on ROR's RW for a good stretch of time and those two look fantastic together. Since Perron has been injured Tarasenko was put back with ROR and now that Tarasenko has been looking like his old self they look good. Whether it's Perron or Tarasenko I can't complain, both work.

I'd like him more if he wore a visor. Just looks weird in this day and age for a non-goon to not wear one.

Such a predictable result for that trade. A true #1 center for replacement level crap.

Everyone knows the real cancer is Jack Eichel and he's in Buffalo for a long time.

O'Reilly is one of the good 2nd line players in the league. Not the type of player you build around.

He was paired early with Tarasenko but didn't find much success from Tarasenko's end. Once Perron and O'Reilly got together it was like magic though. Now that Tarasenko's confidence is up and his play is back, he's looked excellent on O'Reilly's wing.

You also benefited from a joke of a trade in the very same offseason.

I <3 the balls out effort he gives on every single play.

Whenever I got sad earlier this season his beard was always there to wipe up the tears.

He better be a Selke finalist, but he probably won't.

That's a minority view on the Sabres board. Most Sabre posters know that ROR is a beast and were shafted in that trade.

Tremendous all-around player. Best center we have had since Pierre Turgeon. True #1 center and the type of forward you can build around.

He has been consistently awesome since day one and I'm thrilled we have him for the next 4 years too!
