At this point the only reason he’s still with Boston over Bjork or Cehlarik that makes sense is because he’s trade bait. If he isn’t scoring goals he’s invisible most of the time. I don’t know if Providence is better for his development, I think he could learn in Boston too, but I don’t think the team can afford to carry him much longer. Maybe getting a better 3C will help Donato, but I still think there are more deserving players in Providence.

Question...before coming to the Bruins didn’t Donato basicly play for his dad in college and his uncle in prep school.
Now one one was a pro and the other was a darn good dman for BU but still family
A year with Leach in Providence would have been huge
Plus we all have seen him play center in college and he was darn good there

He’s going to be a real good player

Just needs experience, consistency, get stronger

Would not shock me if 30 goal season scorer in a few years

Shot is phenomenal and has slick hands

Very bright future

This was by far his best game...I'be been down on Donato however game by game he's been steadily improving. If he improves his skating and strength he could be very good.

Offensive package aside from speed looks early seguin-esque. A lot to learn about playing the whole ice and in the system, but the skills and shot are there.

but he also made a nice pass. which shouldve been a goal, but cave blows and wasnt ready for the pass.

Does anybody know for certain what Donato’s nickname is?

My wife is more of a casual fan so I uasualy call him “Harvard” for her sake, but personally I have refered to him as “Teddy” from day one. On last nights Bruins Academy I think I heard Chara call him “Teddy”...can anybody confirm that Donato’s nickname is indeed ‘Teddy”...if so I love it.

Hockey players are renowned for their clever nicknames.

Yeah he's been proving me wrong. He was the best player on his line and has been for the past few games. Scratch Heinen please and get Ryan someone who can make a play, he's getting there and I'm happy to see it

Ted or Teddy is the nickname for Ryan's father whose proper given name is Edward, like Edward "Ted" Kennedy.

Last few weeks Donato has shown a willingness to get dirty. He has been ragdolled a few times in the process, but hasn't stopped trying to stick his nose into dirty areas. Pointed out a few weeks ago he is now trying to use leverage to his advantage much better than early in the season, and it's working to some degree. He still lacks strength, but hopefully he devotes this summer to getting stronger. I loved his game last night, and I've liked his game a great deal in 4 of his past 5 games. He still needs to work on giving up the puck when needed, but last night we saw him do just that on the nice pass to JFK. Main thing for me is that he is showing a willingness to improve in the areas outside of scoring. He no longer looks like a lost puppy in his own zone, which was one of my biggest complaints with him in the first part of the season. If he keeps working hard and being willing to learn then he should end up being a very good player, assuming he gets physically stronger.

Great game from Donato Saturday night. Maybe his best of the year. He looks like he's finally starting to get confident again. I thought it would take a lengthy stint in the AHL for him to find that confidence again but he had it Saturday night. Spinning off checks, he got robbed twice, he set up JFK on the back door... Nice to see.

Hopefully he can improve his speed with some good skills coaching. If Kevan Miller can improve as much as he did with that specialist, Ryan should be able to as well.

It's a funny thing since his father was so fast...

I cringe when I have to watch him skate. Needs work there if he wants to hang around.
