Canada
A late 2002 born right winger, Matthew Maggio's high offensive skill level shone with Canada Red at the U17's, putting together four points in six games, scoring a goal and adding three assists. He cracked the stacked Ottawa 67's as a 15 year old and has only contributed a goal in 16 games, but with limited ice time and players up to 5/6 years older than him, Matthew has plenty of time to show up, and a flash of his potential was on display against players of a similar age group.

What’s his upside? Are his numbers a result of the players around him or is he just bullying players.
He is likely one of those OHL players that got looked over for not playing much last year. Should get drafted this year. Playing with Johnston and Cuylle helps a ton but there is legit upside here to be a bottom-6 NHLer

Hope he gets drafted this year. He's working hard - 2 assists vs Flint.

Does he make the NHL this year or does he play in juniors next year? I get covid but damn what a miss. Could he play on the 2nd line?
#1: There are concerns about Maggio in the scouting community in regards to his character. We’ll see how things play out - he should be drafted this year but he’ll still likley be on some teams Do Not Draft lists.

#2: He could be signed and play in the AHL next year. It is Windsor’s hope he returns as an overager but if a team believes he can handle his own in the AHL - he can play.

Speed and offence are his game. You have to take his stats with a grain of salt since he is an overager in the OHL.

Not physical at all and isn’t the first guy over the boards to kill penalties, although he does do it from time to time.

It’ll be interesting to see if he gets offered a contract.

so taking the stats with a grain of salt, isn't leading the OHL in goals and points, even as an overeager enough to warrant a contract?

Maybe. As the OHL leader, the Islanders haven’t shown any confidence in him yet. He is still unsigned. Perhaps that‘ll change soon enough.

Islanders lose his rights if not given a contract by the end of this season though.

IMO, he’s been one of the best and most impressive players in the OHL. Possible contender for the Red Tilson and I think he ends up leading the league in scoring.

He’s a slam dunk to be signed IMO.

Does have some tenacity to his game besides being a high end skater. Scores from the middle of the ice and crashes the crease. Bit of a pest.
