That's a pretty lofty aspiration for a 23 year old with only 12 NHL games on his resume. I think most Canes fans will be happy with him holding down a top 9 roster spot for the length of the season.

Most of them break into the NHL before age 23, as well

It's not like Zykov was over in Europe like Panarin. Since 1982, every Calder winner over the age of 22 has been either a goaltender or an older player coming over from Europe (Panarin, Makarov).

All depends if he stays on the line with Aho. If yes then calder is on the table, if no then yeah - he probably going to be happy hanging on to a top 9 gig. Necas and Svech coming in will affect his fortune but there is also PP time. Zyk should in front of the net guy on the #1 PP.
