Iq wont be a player when our top 6 is loaded with high end iq. Kk, caufield, suzuki, Poehling. What we need is exactly what Drouin is. A high skilled creative player in the offensive zone
Drouin is a soft perimeter player, if he doesnt change his mentality and keep avoiding the dirty areas, he is pretty much gone once the kids surpass him....

Lol no way. Drouin isnt perfect but hes more skilled than all of them. He is a fixture in our top 6 and will only get better.

Its true though. Drouin and Danault have been killing the Habs offense for two years now. They hold on to the puck for so long and nothing ever happens but a fluke goal or a turnover.

That's not what Danault does though, you just have a blind hate for the guy and I don't know why. Agree on Drouin though, he's useless most nights. I guess he can be useful on PP but Muller persistently playing him on the point is killing that too.

Point stands nonetheless though, if you don't have the IQ you're not needed. Regardless of linemates.

Damn whats with the self hate on Drouin. Sure, he shit the bed during the final 30 games or so. But he was a star in the first 50. Is recency bias really that strong? I wonder if the exact opposite happened would people love Drouin had he struggled in the first 30 and light it up in the final 50 games. Cause in my book 50 is bigger than 30.

He wasn't a star in the first 50. Drouin had some great games in there but he was also carried by Domi a lot and was still inconsistent. Then Julien decided Drouin should be moved from the line and the guy has been a no show ever since. A lot of people claim he's never trying and cost us every game which is also untrue but he's nowhere near as good as some believe.

Either way I don't think this is a Drouin thread.

On pace for 70 points is easily star caliber

I bet you by the age of 23 yrs old that Caufield, Ylonen and Suzuki will all have a much bigger impact than what Drouin used us to be... Domi should be moved to wing as well so I would be highly surprised if they keep Drouin playing on a third line, unless last season was a wake up call and Drouin starts playing like a man for entire seasons...

This kid is gonna be a beast imo, his style is very similar to McDavid (talent level varies of course). Gotta see if his body is gonna be strong enough to be as efficient in the NHL tho, it's very physically demanding. Consistency is gonna be really important for him.

I'd love to see a Lehkonen - KK - Ylonen line in his 1st year. He has really good chemistry with KK.

But yea he processes the game really fast and he takes a lot of small strides like McDavid, puck handles really well at high speed too.

Expect him to hit 1ppg in the Liiga. An other elite draft by the habs IMO

There were only two guys last year that went ppg, and he'd need to double his production last year.

I don't follow Liiga much, so I'm honestly just asking, but why do you think he's going to take such a big step? How many 19 year olds go ppg in Liiga?

He's a very nice talent, especially considering where he was drafted. Yet there's still long way to go for a 1 ppg season. You can count with one hand's fingers the amount of players who reach it annually. FEL is nothing like the NHL in that regard. Last year for example it seems to have been only two players that made it (and who played the majority of the season). I wouldn't be setting up that kind of expectations on a prospect simply based on how he played in the pre-season.

Especially considering the kind of ice time young players typically get in those leagues.

I don't expect him to be PPG player because that's so rare in Liiga but even 30-40 points would be incredible for a guy in his age.

He has all the tools to be this year's Heponiemi in Liiga.

Ylonen will be playing on the first line with PP time and top line time. He wasn't given much last year, so this year got me hyped up!

when I say 1ppg, I should have said around 0.8 to 1.0 ppg. IMO he gained strength and explosiveness, add that with +5-6mins per game and you have a nice recette for success.
