I read now on hokej.sk that Tikhonov will be one of the Russian coaches. That probably dimishes the Russian chances at the WC.

Yesterday Sport Express contacted Tikhonov who declared that it was decided that he was going to be Russia's coach, but off the ice, and that he won't have direct contact with the players. That is to say he will be responsible for the team's "general strategy", but the federation will name another coach behind the bench.

This is great news because Tikhonov will be sitting with the rest of the crowd writing some stupid stuff in his notebook. Like in Nagano.

Will players still decline or will the accept invitations despite Tikhonov being in the system?

I think the presence of Tikhonov, who will not meet the players anyway, will not affect them. Mogilny and Zubov wouldn't play anyway.

The only question is will they accept to play after all the crap that's been going on inside the Federation for the past month.

No that's not what he said.
His exact words are "right now, the main task is to contact the players", but he didn't say it's his task.

Can we translate this? Perhaps if I can see this in English, we can tell exactly what Tikonov means...

    And why not Fetisov?????

    Are you 5?

Did you even read what I said?

Do you I have to repeat it for you?

Tikhonov will be sitting in the stands with the rest of the crowd writing some useless things on his notebook.

And regarding the "off-ice coach" job, I was only translating what's been said.

So please next time please READ before saying something stupid.

Stop confusing people. The whole article says that Tikhonov will not be head coach. Period. Everything else in the article is meaningless. There is no such thing as off-ice coach. They kick Tikhonov in the butt, he will not coach team Russia.

That's exactly what I said, and that's also what Steblin said would happen just after the World Champ.
