I probably should rephrase this as "anything that we haven't already heard before?"

The rumor is there will be huge switch...Tihonov will coach Canada and Gretzky will coach Russia ... :)

Well people it appears that at least Vladimir Yurzinov will be part of the coaching staff, because in Sport Express they say that the team will travel to Kloten, Switzerland to hold their training camp ... Kloten is where Yurzinov holds his annual summer camps.

Well, "Sovetsky Sport" reports that tomorrow the Russian hockey federation is going to hold a decisive meeting where everything will be made clear.
SS contacted Tikhonov and Yurzinov over the weekend, and it appeared that none of them was invited to the meeting ... which means that Tikhonov might not be a member of the staff that will lead Russia in the World Cup! :D

I also visited some Russian hockey boards ... and they're just like us, praying that Tikhonov won't be coaching our team, and hoping that Steblin steps down!!!

Well no matter who the coach will be i wont reccomend opening champagne until we see them play...They can finnish dead last in WC but if i see chemistry and good team play i will be happy( of course if they get strong roster and play like i said finishing 8 is not really possible ;)
I dont care if they take 3rd place with some fluke individual goals and Nikolai like they did in SLC...Time to start playing :teach:

I hope Artem Chubarov gets an oustide chance of being one of the checkers or extras. Russia may need a player like him in a World Cup type of tournament.

yeah it depends how they approach it.

for the last - what - 6 years the approach has been

"we'll score so many goals that it doesn't matter how we play defensively"

obviously that didn't work. I HOPE (and it's a foolish hope cuz they're not gonna do that) that they only name 6 or 7 or 8 TOPS offensive-minded players.....

checkers like chubarov and saprykin? bring them on damnit.

Goddamn it I've just read that the May 25th deadline will be moved back for Russia, because following this morning's meeting at the Federation, the conclusion is they need 3 more days to name a coach!

I can't stand those *******!!! **** *** !!!! ****!
