I really think he wants to see if we can offload someone to make room and perhaps equal or top the STL offer. Doesn't make sense otherwise - where else would he want to go other than home to St L?
The way Stauffer responded to Friedman today about Maroon taking a one-year with Edmonton would suggest it's at least an option. But the Oilers would have to move out some money and the only player who seems likely is Lucic, maybe Kassian (but he's a lot faster). Stauffer thinks there's a 95% chance Lucic starts the season here though. So does Friedman.

If we didn't trade Lucic and we brought back Maroon on a 1 year we are having the not enough speed discussion all over again. It seems like the thought it one or the other, and that the team is too slow with both on the roster.

Hope the Big Rig comes home. To add him for nothing, trade him for an asset, and have him resign would be a huge win for Chia. He's a pretty good player too.

Probably not a popular opinion on here but I hope we don't sign him. I would rather get faster on the wings. Having both Lucic and Maroon on the same team is redundant imo.

Did.....you just rank RNH BELOW Lucic for our depth on the LW? Wat. I know it's only a small part of your post, but that's just absurd.

Also I think Yamamoto depends on how he shows in camp. If he can lock down a top 6 spot, keep him there. Otherwise I agree, send him down for big minutes.

We have Rattie slotted in to play with Connor and I don’t consider Rattie to be fast. Plus Maroon has proven chemistry with Connor and having both him and Lucic just two seasons ago in our line up was fine. I’m all for bringing Maroon back at a reasonable deal, unfortunately it won’t happen.

I'm surprised Winnik doesn't have a contract yet... likely the best 2-way forward left on the market.

If the Oilers are truly looking for that #14 forward... Winnik easily would be the best option out there.
