I don't see the logic behind blowing our wad on Markstrom. Koskinen had similar numbers and still has two years remaining. Klefbom out and a weakened PK and you're not really putting your new goalie in a position to succeed.

Trade Chiasson. Trade AA or Benning's rights if you can. Trade Russell if you can. Sign Puljujarvi. Sign a good 3C. Sign a good RD. Find value elsewhere and make depth signings. Lundquist, Howard, Dell, Kinkaid. If you save some money elsewhere, Greiss or Mrazek.

Markstrom is coming off of his Talbot 2016/17 campaign. Vancouver is doing the right thing walking away from him.

Carrying it over from the last thread, Friedman tonight said he wonders if the Oilers take a long look at Markstrom.

Would love to have Hoffman and Toffoli on this team but likely won't happen. Friedman said also that Vancouver has the edge on OEL. Hope he goes there and they give away a lot and Markstrom walks away lol.

Khaira (1.2) Haas (0.9) Archibald (1.5)

Markstrom (5.75)
Koskinen (4.5)

Klefbom LTIR

Actually would work cap wise. A bit unorthodox though for sure. This would only fly for next year though because of Klef's LTIR, next summer they have to trade one of the two goalies or have Seattle take one in the expansion draft (which might not be a bad gamble).

Hopefully Vancouver takes on OEL so we have a shot at a guy like Toffoli

Does Mysteryboxchenyuk skate well enough to be there?

Well if we let Benning and AA go, where are we spending our money? I'd imagine Ennis will be re-signed for cheap but who else?

Well Patrick Maroon never did lol.

Holland wants to build a fast team, that should be clear from his draft picks and signings. That's why I think we'll see Neal gone. He's just not quick enough to pucks. Tyson Barrie coming in may make some sense, along with Matt Nieto. Then bring Puljujarvi back into the mix. Chiasson could also be sent out, and add a 3rd line center to drop Khaira down. That team is much faster then anything we've iced in a long time.

Edit: For the record I'd prefer AA in that 3rd line LW spot.

It's why I also think he might trade Bouchard

Not signing AA is going to come back to bite us, calling it now

I can foresee Calgary being all over him. I'd rather re-sign AA and see if he can turn things around. Is anyone on the open market that we will have to pay 3-4 million for going to have the potential to score 30 goals?

So you're telling me we can't sign and trade Benning or AA? Not even for a conditional pick?
Disastrous asset management.

There are teams that had interest in AA but none of them were willing to give up an asset for him. Forgot who tweeted it out last week (maybe Rishaug?) but that was what was stated.

I think he may trade Bouchard due to his lack of urgency. Just doesn't seem to have a lot of intensity, although he's extremely talented. In saying that I dunno who he'd trade him for.

How much do you think Koivu wants? If we could pull that and Barrie it could work but we would be banking on internal development lots.

So Klef becomes the only remaining piece of the Messier trade tree? Uh oh...
