Carsen is a solid hockey player that can skate, punish, and has some soft hands for the 3rd or 4th line.

The Flyers have more than enough players right now to ice a lineup that never features Jori Lehtera, especially not on special teams.

Drafting guys like Twarynski won't be enough to keep trash like Lehtera out of the lineup - only a change in philosophy by Flyers management will do that. They need to realize that just because you acquire a cap dump with a bloated contract, you don't need to keep playing him once he has proved he's no longer an NHL player.

Not on the current roster, Leier, Weise, or Lehtera, right now they have to play 2 of 3.
Hopefully, all three will be history next year.

Leier and Weise are both better bottom options for the 4th line than Lehtera. So are Read, Knight, Lindblom and Aube-Kubel on the Phantoms. There is nothing forcing Lehtera into the lineup apart from the delusions Flyers management have about him.

And don't think we haven't noticed that you are now claiming Weise isn't even good enough for 4th line duties after you spent all summer saying he should be in the top 6 on a line with Couturier.

No, I said they should try him with Couts and see if their late season magic was a fluke.
Because otherwise they would struggle to fill out three solid lines.
Which they have.
Didn't expect him to flop this bad, wasn't sure he was as good as he looked during that stretch.
On the other hand, didn't expect Raffl to bounce back as strongly.

Read/Lehtera/Weise/Leier/Knight/Goul are not viable options for a playoff team.
It's just a matter of time before Hextall makes a move.

Nashville played Harry Zolnierczyk on their 4th line in the playoffs, and he had 3 points in 11 games.

The Flyers don't need to make a trade to improve their 4th line, they just need to stop playing a guy with 3 points in 34 games as a regular.

It's sickening that he also is on the PP given that offense. And he should not be on the PK given his lack of speed.

Read had 19 points in 63 games last year as a bottom 6 forward who got some PP and PK time; Lehtera is pacing for 6 in 64.

Weise used to be heavy, but then they changed what heavy was. Now what's heavy, isn't Dale. And what's heavy, seems weird and scary to him.

Flyers' Dale Weise now finding the net on new line - Philly

"We hadn't played together all year, but we just kind of clicked right away," Weise said before the Flyers faced the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. "It's a north-south game; we play a heavy game and like to play the game down low and get pucks to the net and generate offense like that."

Probably need to find a better example.
Zolnierczyk last season 24g 2-2 4 E +/- -3.7
Lehtera this season 51g 3-4 7 E +/- -4.2

Really what it shows is even the best teams struggle to find 12 healthy forwards.

Or why Twarynski doesn't have to be a great player to have value, just skate decently, forecheck, backcheck and score 5-10 goals and 20 or so points a year.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a fast skating forechecking 4th line of Twarynski - Laughton - Laczynski in a couple of years?
They would score their share of goals too.
