He was a huge bright spot last year in the playoffs. Didn't Blashill check out the old tape on him?
Also one of the much better physical forces, will stick up for his teammates, has passion and grit.

Roenick never fails to amaze me. Calls out the Wings defense for being "slow and big," uses Brendan Smith as an example.
Yeah I saw that too lol. Brendan Smith is not slow.
Know who's not clearing waivers? Anthony Mantha.

I know what he meant, but Blash needs to work on his sound bites: "We wanted to have five forwards on our bench we were comfortable killing." Hahahaha.
Anyways, I love Blashill's penchant for bringing up something a guy has done at least a year ago. Particularly the ones who are old or just plain bad.
Seriously, why isn't Cleary up? Remember those great plays he had back in 2012?
If you take Blashill literally about that, it makes sense why Andersson is on the bench and not Mantha.
Blashill's five he's comfortable killing
1. Joakim Andersson
2. Luke Glendening
3. Pavel Datsyuk
4. Henrik Zetterberg
5. Niklas Kronwall
PK Capable players
Helm

Joker sucks on the PK. Too passive too slow.
We need to play a physical game. Everyone must finish checks.
