Gotta say I expected more from Nathan MacKinnon through 40 minutes. One rush down the left side in the 1st, other than that hasn't really done much. Enough to get him cut? Probably not, but hope he steps it up in the 3rd.

This is their third game in 3 days guys...cut them a little slack

How is Hudon playing today?

I don't watch much of the Q and was wondering why this guy is a lock (he is). Bobby Mac says he's a lock and he didn't play yesterday so I'm assuming he's on the team. He's not a top prospect, not big, doesn't have great numbers and is an underager. I trust the Team Canada brass but I'm just wondering, not questioning, what's so great about this guy. Hasn't impressed me today at all.

It's just funny to see your sad attempts of trying to make Murphy more than the 7th defenceman. But right now, looking at the lines, it looks like he is the odd man out.

I actually thought it was funny to see how much of a vested interest you have in convicing people he's a 7th defensemen at best without nothing to back it up.

Corrado coming down to earth a bit. Fortunately for him Dumba also sucks today again.

Yeah Corrado isn't having a strong game, good for him that his main competiton in Dumba and Wotherspoon are either having a bad game (Dumba) or who aren't having a great game (Wotherspoon).

He's probably solidified himself as one of the 7 defensemen though.

I would second that.

He was good as the summer challenge and TC just seems to love him. Personally, I'm not his biggest fan; In the summer challenge he would routinely stay out for an extra 20-30 seconds after the rest of his linemates had changed, and it happened throughout the games he was in. I don't have a problem with him being on the team, but if it came down to Hudon and Drouin though, I'd take Drouin.

Camara and MacNeill doing well to solidify their places in the bottom 6 today. Also I think Drouin is going to be the 13th after the first 40 minutes. Tremendous skill but far from a complete player at this point.

Actually the more common opinion (which all of these are) is that Murphy is more suited to play a 7th defenseman role.

If he makes the team as the 7th defenseman he won't be just a PP player, he'll get some even strength time, just not as much as the other 6. There is nothing wrong with being the 7th defenseman and being a PP specialist in a tournament like this.

Each game Drouin has gotten better... after Day 1 I said he wasnt quite ready, but now I am willing to take that back.

Lipon has played well too and hopefully makes it.

Hmm...

Rielly - Hamilton playing together
Harrington - Ouellet together
Reinhart - Corrado playing together

Hmm...were does that leave Murphy?
With Sproul?

Apparently you're the only one (maybe there is one other person) who doesn't see Murphy as the 7th PP specialist, and that includes Bob Mackenzie and the tsn guys. It doesn't mean he won't get extra shifts.

Dumba is really hurting his chances. Even an average game and there was a good chance he beats out Corrado, but he's not having a good game. I've only noticed 2 defensemen this game, one for being good, the other for being bad, and the one that's bad is Dumba. He's fumbling with the puck, he's missing hits. I don't know what's wrong.

Do you have anything more than just your opinion to back this up? I'm seriously curious. Have you not seen how awful he's been?

Thought they moved Reinhart back with Dumba, and Corrado back with Wotherspoon during the game. It's so hard with these stupid black numbers, but I was pretty sure Corrado is now with Wotherspoon.

Well as I write this I see that Dumba is now with Corrado, so it's basically looking like lines just keep getting switched up on D.

I guess you're saying he's not a top prospect because he was drafted in the 5th round but he is a very good prospect. Spott already called him the steal of the draft. I thought it was a huge joke he lasted this long in the draft.

He's not big but he's not too small either. He's Jordan Eberle small. In fact, the player I compare him to is Jordan Eberle. Very smart kids who can play in all situations. They understand the game perfectly. They're a real treat for their coach. Always at the right place to score timely goals.

He has good numbers, the kid was always way above his teammates in the +/- department while leading his teams scoring. He's not anunderager. He's 18.

He shutdown Yakupov in the Subway Superseries in November and August. He can be used in all situations. Terrific player as far as I'm concerned.

Not really a shock that Dumba didn't really step up today. He makes as many awful plays as he does good ones. His risk reward is just to high for him to make it as a 6 or 7 guy. I think that Corrado will get it just based on a simplified, low risk game. When building your bottom pairing those are the skills you are looking for over a guy like Dumba or Murphy. Be very interesting to see how this pans out.

It's not that much of a stretch, really. Dumba has history with the coach and has certainly shown he can play better than he has in this camp - if he was the one playing mistake free, he could be locking himself up a spot.

Camara jacks up another guy.

I was not that high on him before but he has made an impression.

No one has stood out on D today. Wotherspoon has been pretty good, but not great. Murphy and Corrado are both average today. Dumba having a bad game. Reinhart is unremarkable but steady, as expected and desired. Sproul same as Wotherspoon, good but not great.

I think he means for the final roster.

Yeah, I guess I see it now. But it's pretty funny as we have this conversation, the commentators are talking about if Spott wasn't Murphy's coach, Murphy might not have done enough to warrant a spot on the team.

It's been his best game. Scored the first goal off of a nice play by Lipon and has had a few nice hits.

Thanks! :handclap:

I'm a fan of Hudon (obviously) so take this for what you will. He has a great track record with Team Canada and he can also slot into any role. He has the skill to get keep up with the big guns offensively, but also has the mentality and the attention to detail to play a shut down role. Having that versatility is a huge plus.

I'd say he does have great numbers, so I don't know why you'd say that. Is being tied for the lead in scoring for his team with an overager not very good? He also is first on his team in goals and leads in point-per-game by a fairly large margin. I'd say he's the best player on the ice more often than not when he plays (in the Q).

I'm very surprised he was a lock, but he definitely deserves to be on this team, at least in my opinion.
