Thoughts on trading for Vanek from Detroit? With 23 points in 43 games, he might help secondary scoring/depth. He's putting this up on a bottom 6, but for how reasonable of a price can he be had? Vanek is 35.

Said it earlier this season (October actually) that a Vanek - Pominville re-union would send some young centers (Middelstadt, wink wink, nod, nod) stats from 30 to 50 points for the season. Bolstering confidence on his offensive game side.
The down side for the young center is having to tug those 2 gurney's around the ice for 13 / 14 minutes a game.

I've had 3 different trade Risto discussion in three different threads. We are only 4.5 days into this 10 day break folks. Not sure we're all gonna make it.
I've been ludicrously productive with research and school work since last Friday. It's a shame we have a decent record still, because I"m going to be sucked right back into spending 15 hours a week on these guys when they come back from break haha

I'd be on board with trading for Burakovsky

Thing with him is he doesn’t really drive anything. He can make really good centers like Backstrom more productive but has been not so good away from him. Would be wasted here imo

His numbers seem to be declining which is a bit disconcerting and odd. I have liked him from afar but wonder whats up with him quite frankly.

Only 23 which is nice when looking at this team. And playoff numbers look decent.

We certainly need more speed and skill.

Wonder what Dallas would want for Nichushkin?

Would it be more interesting to look at Burakovsky instead? He ticks all of Botterill's stated boxes for age, control, upside. Nichushkin does that as well, but 49 games of playoff experience could be an interesting add.

Absolutely

Apparently Caps looking for a forward with similar salary in return. Not sure that matches up well with Sabres. Futures would be our best bet there.

I feel Nichushkin could be had for little based on production and KHL defect threat. I'd offer the Sharks 4th for Nichushkin. If he defects after this year we get we get a 2020 6th.

While Friedman said that the Caps would likely want a roster player in return for Burakovsky (one who could help now, so not Sobotka), he acknowledged that they could also flip futures acquired in exchange for Burakovsky for such a player. Some nights he looks like a star, and then he's invisible for several games. Reminds me a bit too much of Boedker when he played for the Yotes.

I'd take him.

He might relish a bigger role on this team. He might also fit better into the age group of this team.

But mainly, just give me more speed and talent please.
