    Less so, I think.

I think everyone would speculate that Panarin has a much longer shelf-life than Kreider does, almost certainly.

The Trouba move I don't love for that very reason. I ultimately said I like it because we didn't need the late first to move up in the draft (we had already won Kakko), and you couldn't really do better, value-wise, than parlaying that pick and a player in Pionk that we were all ready to ditch, into Trouba, but at this point his long term fit seems dubious. He's not going anywhere but you'd sure feel better if you knew that DeAngelo could play on the left side.

You have no vision. It's not going to take 7 years. The transition period should be taking place now. The goal should be to build a championship level and not a competitive middling team.

If they can pry McMichael out of Washington I'll be floored.

He's torching the OHL with a goal per game avg. Hes a center. Arguably a top 20 prospect in the league. Literally right on the money for what this team needs

Yes if they don't make the playoffs next year the season will be a failure. When they got Panarin and Trouba thinks moved ahead.

Is that the only way to build a SC winner? What’s the exact ratio of young vs veteran leaders?

Nothing is gonna happen until Monday. i'd be shocked if we made a significant trade before then.

The Bruins prospects are bad and their first will be late I am not upset at all Boston is out of the running nor do I really believe it has any effect on finding a trade with someone else.

The Blackhawks only got those young guys because the owners were dogshit. That franchise was a laughing stock and I'm pretty sure the league had to step in. The Rangers were the worst team the year before Crosby got drafted and they got screwed out of that pick. They purposely tanked and still lost out to Pittsburgh. I think you're getting too caught up trying to emulate situations that can't be emulated. The reality is the Rangers invested more than 11m on Panarin and 8m on Trouba, they're not gonna wait five years for this window to open. Whether you agree with that approach or not, that's just the way it is. Panarin is the star here. Maybe in a few years Kakko will be the guy, but right now the team is being led by two 28 year olds and a 26 year old.

Freidman is one of the most accurate and respected 'insiders' in the industry. Up there with LeBrun for the #2 spot behind Bob McKenzie.

Im pretty sure he had the McDonagh details before anyone.

I don't know if that is the case with NHL GMs. I know the Boston/Anaheim trade weakens our position but sometimes you need to move on from a trade. If Gorton trades Kreider for a less than ideal package, then he also runs the risk of other GMs trying to fleece him in future trades. I hope this makes sense in message board text but Gorton also has to be careful that he doesn't get the reputation of getting less than market value for the player.

I don't think this trade hinders any future trade with Boston.

@Edge you had mentioned a few days ago that Calgary was lurking around CK...is that still the case?

    Thanks.

Guess they're gonna go with Grub/Pavel moving forward... no need for Hank or Georgie

Exactly. You don’t hand out massive contracts to Panarin and Trouba if you don’t plan on compete for another 3-4 years

hey this is the same team that traded a better prospect (Forsberg) for a worse and older player (Erat).

But yeah i don't even see Washington going hard after Kreider anyway
