Maybe.....but more the fact we traded him for Rob F****** DiMaio and he went on to be a very useful player for Boston and Philly.

If they commit to Zibanejad long term I don't think there's anyone on this team that will benefit more from the development of Kakko and Laf. Kreider and Buch are nice complimentary players but I always find myself saying, if he had a dangerous talent on his wing that could really carry the puck and draw in some defenders to give Mika some more time & space.. damn. You think about Mackinnon, hes a tremendous talent but its no coincidence that he really took off when Rantanen started putting it together. Theres a lot of factors at play there but thats definitely a big one. We need these kids to really push the Mika / Panarin lines over the top

What’s the latest on Holloway? Has he exploded as a prospect?

Do you get the sense there’s any frustration with Kreider?
I see him scoring a decent number of goals but not really contributing much otherwise. Maybe I’m just missing it, though...

Totally agree on seeing what you can get for Buch and Strome. I think you get a Hayes-like return for both. A first rounder and a top prospect/young player (hopefully a C).

Trade Smith for a mid-round pick
Trade Georgiev for a mid-round pick

Buch and Strome have been good enough that I’m not looking to pawn them off for late firsts and a Brendan Lemieux type.

If I can get a young top 6 center prospect like Krebs or Lundell, that’s a different story.

    had a strong season,

dont know specifics, if he played with Caufield who had an absurd season. One of the best seasons that I can remember in college

I don't see a future in New York for either Buch and Strome. Not with the money they'll certainly be demanding. Not when we need to sign Zibanejad long-term to a big deal and not when we need to keep our many young players/RFAs. It's one of the main reasons I was upset about the Kreider extension.

I know Henrik and Shattenkirk's contracts will be reduced, but I don't know how we can fit in Strome and Buch.

    Panarin - 12M per
    Trouba - 8M per
    Kreider - 6.5M per
Zibanejad - UFA in 2022; will get at least 8M, if not 10M+ per
    Kakko - RFA in 2022
    Kravtsov - RFA in 2022
    Fox - RFA in 2022
    Chytil - RFA in 2021
    Gauthier - RFA in 2021
    Igor - RFA in 2021
    Lindgren - RFA in 2021

And yet, people still want Eichel and his huge cap. Just not feasible.

I think Kreider is having a very Kreider-like season. At this point I think it’s more or less accepted.

It pisses me off we signed him to that extension. It honestly seems like the Rangers would rather extend their players if they can't get a trade package that appeases them...well, unless you're JT Miller :P

Kreider has been fine and carried the team when Panarin was out and Zibanejad was struggling. He hasn’t been as good the last 2-3 weeks but he is doing the same things he has done every year. Including the net front presence.

It's not so much a complaint about this season. The duration of his contract is the bigger issue.

Quinn's undoing will be the fact that eventually these rookie, high potential studs won't be rookies forever. At some point they find their voice and stop smiling when they accidentally get overlooked most games. You lose the room and then they fire the coach.

I want Quinn to succeed. There seemed to be a good balance tonight. I think a lot of us want to see the consistency and patience and balanced ice time from Quinn when the team struggles or falls behind. I want Quinn to coach a trailing Ranger team the way he coaches a rolling Rangers team. Or failing that, break up your vet lines and PP1 if you are going to do it to the rookies.

Yep, that's gonna be the case forever.

The legacy of Kreider's later-age role with NYR will be how he ages, not the streakiness. That was a given and was known when they signed him.

2A, elite in a lot of areas of the game, but not a guy who is going to be an attention grabber 75% of his games. Johan Franzen comes to mind.

I doubt they trade Lundkvist before seeing what he can do in the NHL. My sense.
