I would really like to see Pronger get a shot at it, but if it went wrong idk if I could handle that.

Don't know how much was Homer, how much was Snider, how much was the money.
However, Holmgren was definitely "hyperactive" when it came to trading, and definitely didn't value draft picks:

2/15/07 Parent, Upshall, 2007 1st, 2007 3rd for Forsberg
2/15/07 Coburn for Zhitnik
2/27/07 Biron for 2007 2nd (used on Brennan)
6/18/07 Hartnell, Kimmo for 2007 1st [basically right to sign them]
7/1/07 Lupul & J Smith for Pitkanen, 2009 3rd
2/25/08 Prospal for Picard, 2009 2nd
6/20/08 2008 1st, 2008 3rd for Umberger, 2008 4th
6/20/08 Eminger, 2008 3rd for 2008 1st
7/1/08 Hersley, Lukacevic for 2010 2nd
10/13/08 Albert & 2009 4th for Lukacevic
11/7/08 Carl & 2009 3rd for Downie, Eminger, 2009 4th
3/4/09 Carcillo for Uphsall, 2011 2nd
6/26/09 Pronger for Lupul, Sbisa, 2009 1st, 2010 1st
7/1/10 Meszaros for 2012 2nd
2/14/11 Versteeg for 2011 1st, 2011 3rd
6/7/11 rights to Bryz for Clackson, 2011 3rd

Confused Holmgren, am I rebuilding, reloading or just shuffling the deck?
6/23/11 Simmonds, B Schenn, 2012 2nd for Richards
6/23/11 Voracek, 2011 1st, 2011 3rd for Carter
6/27/11 2013 3rd for Powe
7/1/11 2012 2nd, 2012 3rd for Versteeg
2/16/12 Grossman for 2012 2nd, 2013 3rd
2/18/12 Kubina for Kalinski, 2013 2nd, 2013 3rd
6/22/12 2012 2nd, 2012 4th, 2013 4th for Bob
6/23/12 L Schenn for JVR
4/3/13 Mason for Leighton, 2015 3rd
6/12/13 Streit for 2014 4th
3/4/14 MacDonald for 2014 3rd, 2015 2nd
3/5/14 2014 3rd for Maszaros

That wasn't the original argument.

I was clarifying the point that Hextall had no room to maneuver for the first couple seasons.
I was responding to someone who seemed to infer otherwise.

I get it, you're not a Hextall fan but take things in their proper context

I was an Hextall fan and i loved what he did when he first took over. It was a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately he is sticking to that same mantra he had 5 years ago. The roster is somewhat different, the farm is different, cap space now exists yet the team is just as mediocre as it was 5 years ago.

(Not sure if this posted in Thread #1 before the cutoff to the new one) Wouldn't it be some form of irony if tomorrow night we see Hak letting the young kids go, Sanheim et. al's minutes go way up, we see the older vet duds stapled to the bench ... essentially all of the faults we've had of Dave, go away, because maybe he was just doing Hexy's bidding .... wishful thinking haha!

that would be a total mind f*** and it would make so many posters on here look bad, and deadhead would be promoted to owner of hfboards.

Dead, you have to remember that Homer was also GM under an aging Snider who wanted a cup win before his death. Yes they sacrificed picks for wasted bandaids that hurt us in the later years, but Ed certainly had a big hand in that.

Frankly, I think one of the mistakes he made was not tanking from the beginning. I would have traded Vorachek and simmonds, yielding a good haul.
I would have kept Giroux.

And by this point, the team would have been more likely to take off.

One thing about the drafting, which was mentioned at the Town Hall meeting, (this was part of a question I asked him myself) is that part of Hextall's ethos with prospects is that they grow up in the organization and feel committed to this process. Guys who come in (I think the term he used was 'passing by') for the short term are doing just that, and are less likely to feel invested in the success of the team.

Most likely letting the new GM whoever that is fire Hak.

It's a bit strange to me.

It does suggest that Hakstol was not the reason Hextall was fired. There is no reason they have to wait for the new GM to fire Hakstol. We have seen GMs and coachs fired at the same time before.

It would have more sense to fire both then let the new GM hire his own staff. If you need an interim in the meantime, no big deal.

Based on what has happened and what we know, it seems like Hextall was fired for other reasons (complacency, goaltending, who knows) and they are going to let the next GM decide if he wants to keep Hak. That's really bad if so, because the next GM may want to give him the rest of the season.

He was the best "just sit down after a long day and watch with no trouble on your mind" host I have watched in my late teens, early twenties

It's because it was refreshing compared to the other late night shows who got formulaic and played it safe to try and keep a large audience to rake in sponsor cash. His show reminded me of early Letterman and Conan, but the main difference being that he never changed to try to appeal to a larger audience as his show gained traction, and was arguably the most authentic show. If anything he got more wacky and irreverent to the late night standard fare. Which is why I believe were he to take over for Letterman at the 11:35 slot it would have never worked.
