I think anyone expecting Levi to be in Rochester next year needs to consider three things.

1. The Sabres need to win next year

2. What goalie are they going to bring in to play backup that is better than Levi?

3. Do you really believe Kevyn Adams will get them?
Agreed. It's also important to consider just how much "backup" goalies play in the NHL. There are only 8 goalies who started 55+ games this year. And just 14 who started over 50. They can't roll out whatever cheap backup goalie they can sign to a 1 year deal for about 30 games next year, while knowing full well they have one of the best goalie prospects in the league playing in the AHL. They need the added points they'll get by playing Levi. And having him get a somewhat heavier workload in the AHL (he'll probably an extra 20 games there) isn't worth it IMO.

This game is all the evidence we need to see that Granato’s system and style was not going to work in the playoffs. The lack of physicality and aggressiveness is beyond frustrating. It was reminiscent of a bunch of Sabres games this year where we can’t get the puck to score. We let the crunch dictate the game. They always had an outlet in transition and we collapse to the middle in the D zone way too much.

its clear Appert was asked to mirror Granato’s system. The passive style limits our mistakes but it also limits our chances. Im done watching lazy hockey. Im glad Granato is out and Appert needs to change next year or he needs to go too. Im giving him the benefit of the doubt right now because I believe he’s just following the organization’s direction. Its going to be tough for him to all of sudden change course and get players to buy in.
I wouldn’t completely dismiss the idea that Appert is just a mediocre coach

with Lindy as the coach and UPL as the starter, UPL is probably playing 65 next year

He shouldn’t. It was clear Luukkonen was struggling with fatigue late this season. It isn’t the 1990’s, shared nets are now the norm.

UPL needed a game or two off during his run, not forced to split time.

Granato went the other extreme and played UPL until he dropped and then picked him up and played him some more

UPL was on a 75-80 game pace at one point when he played his 20-25 straight. No goalie can sustain that. However, UPL showed he could sustain a more reasonable starter's workload of a 60-65 game pace

Murray back with Kulich/Rosen, as expected.

Slaggert back in; Ostlund and Neuchev out. Weissbach, Biro, Rousek remains unchanged. Bah.

They know they can bully us physically, without consequence.

Many of our small, young players are easily getting pushed around. It's playoff time.

The Amerks suck at getting out of their own zone playing this team. How?! It's been 3 games this series, how have the coaches not seen this?

40 to go, but I think the Amerks are cooked. They just aren't fighting back like they did last year.

Created more in that period than any of the game 3 periods. Now they have to solve Halverson. 105 minutes or so since they've scored during the run of play.
