Eh, this fella wasn't too shabby.

Happy Birthday to the man from Parry Sound who changed how defensemen played the game.

Looks great for 66 years old. I still he think he could be a PP specialist in today's game. ;)

On Twitter today (@NHLhistorygirl):

Reporter: "What's Bobby Orr's best move?"
Gordie Howe: "Putting on his f***ing skates."

Happy birthday Bobby! The Greatest.

Robertus Gordonalia Orrum est, pro patria mori. - It is sweet and seemly to die for Bobby Orr.

Happy birthday to the greatest of them all.

Today should be a national holiday!

I keep watching game after game to maybe see someone who stands out like Orr did, even for just a minute. I foolishly thought as a teen that I'd see someone so great again. Bourque was a disappointment when compared to Orr,that's how sensational a talent he was.

Still my favourite Bobby Orr video:

Great video of Orr's awesomeness.

I was asked by a younger fan in another post recently "How would Bobby Orr do in today's NHL?
I said "I thought Orr would still be the best player in the league...and he's 65 years old (now 66)
...but to be serious, IMHO he would still be the best player in the NHL today if he had the same modern training, equipment etc., (and two good knees).

Fixed. (Unless of course you were inter-linguistically trolling me in which case :yo: ).

(As a classics scholar I have greater reverence for the Latin language [and Horace] than even for the great #4. :help: )

Felicem diem natalem, Roberte!

Happy Birthday Bobby Orr!

He is the reason I became a Bruins fan. Living in Mississauga, fresh from England, saw my first hockey game and was surrounded by Leafs fans making snide comments about him, I decided on the spot at 10 years old, that the Bruins were my team. I fell in love with the game and Bobby Orr.

Talent is in the head and the soul, body is the medium. Orr's talent is so far, once in a lifetime and all the modern fitness and nutrition in the world isn't changing that.

I still remember how thrilled my brother & I were as kids when we were given a 13" black & white TV which our folks won in a Christmas raffle. Now we could watch all of the Bs games on TV38 and witness the greatness of Bobby Orr whenever they played, and there was indeed greatness to witness nearly every game. Amazing.
