It's pretty clear there's a culture issue in Buffalo. I think that's been obvious for a long time, usually that's what happens when you do everything you can to lose.
Tanking is for losers and creates a losing atmosphere.

He'd see absYet another thread where its "everyone else"
Maybe Risto should look in the mirror?
Didnt Sabres fans say the same thing about ROR? Maybe the Sabres need to look in the mirror.Yet another thread where its "everyone else"

He shouldn't feel odd about putting in the extra work. Jagr asked for a key to the rink when he was with Dallas, right?
Worked for Pittsburgh and LA.
When did the Kings tank?Worked for Pittsburgh and LA.

It talks about how he may have asked Buffalo about a trade, and he elaborates here
That is a massive yikes if players are scared of looking bad in the room for working hard.
I'll admit I laughedAfter the Sabres lose games they just call the other teams sweaty tryhards
Yea he said pretty much nothing about Sabres' culture. So fruitful trying to in-depth analyse something that was never said.
Am I the only one who sees this as being much ado about nothing? Once he got a gym he felt self-conscious being the only guy working out in the team facility, felt it might look like showing off. Don't get me wrong, he might be implying more, but all he did was voice a pretty understandable sentiment. Same thing with enjoying hockey less. Ya man, losing sucks, hopefully that changes soon. Like- I think if he felt the team didn't put in the effort off the ice he woulda censored himself on this, but instead it's just kinda an offhand comment and more about his own psychology than some dig at the team. He's a gym rat, but he doesn't like showing off. I'll take that at face value.
I think it's a pretty massive leap to assume this speaks to an issue with Eichel, the culture, etc. People hate Eichel why? He didn't like Bylsma? I didn't either, I doubt you do, and he's not a good coach, so.. I don't really care. I haven't seen signs of not caring/partying too much or anything, they've just been bad teams under bad coaches. Once again, hopefully that's changing.
When did the Kings tank?
Same with Pittsburgh actually. They were in financial distress not paying anyone more than tanking.
Just like ROR was a locker room cancer and an overpayed average 2C? It`s hard to develop in a bad environment.Him working hard doesn't help him a lot, I'd say. Once he was considered a future 1D, and he isn't.
LOL says the Blues fan. Hoping Risto gets traded to you guys for scraps and repeat? This is a Risto being insecure problem with what is shown in the excerpt. Not a culture issue
Having them in the first place was punishment enough.Everything bad that happens to the Sabres is just karma for the 'hairy slug' jerseys.

40+ point dman making $5.4M for another 3 years is gold to a team that uses him the right way. he's a 2nd line PP specialist. Use him like Tyson Barrie and not Kevin Shattenkirk and he'll do very well wherever.
