There's a reason why this garbage is still legal while those same dinosaurs want to keep Marijuana a schedule 1.
I have no comment over the debate regarding marijuana.
However, some opioids do need to be legal for the purposes of pain management. They need to be monitored though, and patients need to have the discipline to use them as directed and not abuse them.
I once completely herniated two discs in my back, and I was only able to make it through the day for about 2 weeks with the help of oxycodone. It was severely painful. I couldn't get out of bed or sit up without the oxycodone.
I can definitely see how one could abuse the drug, because of how euphoric I felt when taking it. It also felt addictive and I did have withdrawal effects after I went off of it.
This is why the patient needs to be counselled before taking them. They also need to have the discipline to not take more than is prescribed and don't take it before your next scheduled dose. Because this is what can lead to overdose.
