Had Detroit designed it, Opportunity would've expired 12 hours after the basic warranty did. Thanks, NASA, for some refreshingly thoughtful investment of our dollars.

Luckily, NASA refused to install "damage component", well know from mobile phones, that will automatically run out after 3 months.
