Had a short run in the WWF 1986 through 1989. Didn't want to recognize his accolades in the past so he was given the first 'King' of wrestling before needing to drop it after an injury during a match with Hogan on SNME.

apparently Vince paid thousands of dollars to help him. his last two days. (fly him to the hospital and take care of all the bills, just before he passed away)

I'm not a big Race fan but he was a big name in wrestling history and seemed like a good guy. I usually enjoy Race stories too. Reminds me of a badass uncle who visits on random holidays, drinks a lot, tells off colour stories, and could beat up all the guys in the neighbourhood.

I remember being a WWF fan as a kid and couldn’t wait to see him fight Bob Backlund to unify the titles. I think they wrestled to a draw as a promotion.

RIP King. Only knew him from WWF, but certainly aware of his history and accolades. I've always remembered a a match vs. Hogan where he missed (a headbutt?) from the ropes and did this hilarious-t0-a-kid rollover/flip as he bounced off the mat.
