One of the most popular and most identifiable Mets of all time. 79 years old passed away after lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's.

bar trivia--he was the only guy in a Mets uniform for both their World Series titles....I still envision him jumping in the air waiving Ray Knight home on the Buckner error in game 6 in 1986

Alzheimer's is an absolute terrible disease. It's so hard to watch someone's brain being slowly eaten with no recourse.
