I hope they don't, with all the stress it'll get from the compact schedule. Last thing we need is for it to be all lit up at the end of the regular season.

why? Sestito sucks. rather play one of the kids.

He's a pretty solid 4th liner. He is big, can hit, and has some hockey ability. Sestito is also only 25 years old or so, isn't he? Not like he is some crusty old vet like Shelley. McGinn very well may be good, but I don't have any issue with putting Sestito in the lineup for a game or two (I also wouldn't have a problem with McGinn getting the nod, I would just prefer Sestito).

Sestito also is a pretty dumb hockey player. see the Rangers laughing at him when he was trying to stir **** up last year.

Not to mention he'll probably take more penalties then he'll draw and being as though the flyers pk has been atrocious in the early going I don't think he's worth it.

And btw sestito is not a good fighter for his size, seriously check out some of his fights on YouTube.

so we have two pylons in Shelley and Sestito on the roster who we both not even dress for a game even when two other roster players are injured? I thought Sestito put up respectable numbers during the lockout and even lost some weight recently...waive him already and let him play for the Phantoms at least - this is ridiculous!

Not only that, but we call up McGinn and he is immediately put on the 3rd line. So, clearly Rinaldo isn't one of the 12 best forwards, either.

I think Lavi's just trying to balance things out a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Schenn and McGinn played together quite a bit at Adirondack so I'm sure that factored into his placement.

I think you guys are being overly critical of Sestito. He's a 4th line agitator/tough guy. He absolutely will take penalties. He absolutely is not a defensive specialist. But he also can stir the pot and create opportunities with penalties or sparking the crowd with a fight. It won't work all the time, but like any agitator/tough guy type player, it can really disrupt the other team's play when effective.

I have no problem with McGinn starting, I would just personally prefer to see Sestito.

Rinaldo is doubtful for either game this weekend:

“He skated today (Jan. 24). Some tightness, feels like a charley horse to him. The wound is healed up fairly quickly.”

SUNRISE, Fla. _ Flyers center Danny Briere, who has missed the first four games because of a hairline fracture of his left wrist, skated this morning and said he would be a game-time decision for Saturday night's matchup in Florida.

Briere said he had no problems shooting the puck, but faceoffs still gave him difficulties. When he does return to the lineup, Briere may be shifted to wing

GM Paul Holmgren said Briere was "probably a no-go" for Saturday.

probably safe to say Briere's target date is Tuesday at the NYR. Not expecting him to play in Tampa tomorrow.

Briere estimated he would miss 7-to-10 games, late first week of January.

Last week, Briere ballparked that he might miss the first seven to 10 games of the season. Now, it appears it won’t be that long. When asked if Briere might be able to practice this week, Holmgren only said, “We’ll take it one day at a time.”

Briere is playing tonight

“@AnthonySan37: I'm told Danny #Briere will play tonight for the #Flyers. Twitter in Philadelphia begins to explode in 3…2…1… #NHL”

“@JohnBorukCSN: Briere can't take faceoffs so he'll play LW along side Couturier. *#FlyersTalk”

SUNRISE, Fla. _ Flyers center Danny Briere, who has missed the first four games because of a hairline fracture of his left wrist, will make his first appearance of the season Saturday night in Florida.

Briere said he had no problems shooting the puck, but faceoffs still gave him difficulties. Hence, he will play wing.

Earlier, GM Paul Holmgren said Briere was "probably a no-go" for Saturday, but Briere apparently talked his way into the lineup.
