Panik doesn’t have Connolly’s shot, and isn’t nearly the same level of threat off the rush that Connolly was. When this new third line scores goals, it’s gonna be greasy goals around the crease. 48% of Panik’s career ESG have come from the low slot.

Yeah, obviously, those extra picks also give the Caps some more deadline options to keep tweaking things if they haven’t optimized performance yet. GMBM has certainly stayed active. I like the direction we’re headed in but, obviously, this isn’t necessarily the end of the line either. I could still imagine a third line upgrade for Hagelin, pushing him to the fourth, if they can figure out how to make the cap work- likely a rental with salary retained.

Looks like, that demotion to 4. line ironically was a help for Panik. 6 points in his last 4 games wit ice time hardly over 10 minutes. Some pretty cool moves too.
