He'll be in the USHL next year and then Minnesota where he will be coached by Poehling's former coach from his first 2 years, one of the top coaches in the NCAA imo.

Will be eligible for the loophole as well since he's not going directly to the NCAA.

Just wondering since on Eliteprospects it shows

that's just his verbal commitment to Minnesota, look at the date. Eliteprospects has him listed as going to Minnesota in '20-'21. They lost his older brother Rem as he left a year early to sign with Nashville, so they could be in need of help as they lost a lot of players from last year.

That said I wonder what he will want to do, if he'll still want to play there or not. The reason why I bring it up, in the NCAA kids get recruited by the coaching staff, so when they have their verbal commitment and then a year or two later the head coach leaves, often the incoming kids will consider going to another school. So now that his brother isn't there and the coach that recruited him was fired, perhaps he will reconsider his options. That said being from Minnesota he'll likely want to play for the gophers and they picked up a very good coach who was at SCSU and coached Team USA WJC.

Why did Koberstein have 5 years to be signed?

Is it because of this:

8.6(c) College Players
(iii) If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19, who had received a Bona Fide Offer in accordance with Section 8.6(a)(ii) above, becomes a bona fide college student prior to the second June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft and remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive rights of negotiation for his services through and including the August 15 following the graduation of his college class.
