I don't see a place in the lineup for him. I expect him to be traded. Same for Hudon.

Very likely you are right. We know this is more a formality to keep the rights to these players. Whether they accept the QO or not, the team keeps them as assets at the very least.

Well it seems pretty clear CJ does not like the game Hudon and Reilly brought last year , and it does not look like the players are able to address CJ's concerns.

Hopefully they worked on their games and come to camp hungry to win a spot.

Today at 5PM ET is the deadline for teams to qualify RFA's.

Unless we get news of extensions for Lehkonen and Armia, the Habs will officially announce that they've extended qualifying offers for:

McCarron, Hudon, Reilly, Lehkonen, and Armia.

Reilly, Lehkonen, and Armia are eligible for arbitration.

They are still Habs' properties. So they can be involved on future trade(s).

AHL for them?

Please just no NHL..

The info that has been shared as of late:

- Hudon was made a qualifying offer, but he refused it. Despite that, the fact the Habs qualified him means they continue to hold his rights. The more likely scenario is he's traded. Which could be one reason why they qualified him, to use him as an asset in a deal.

- McCarron was extended a qualifying offer and he has most likely accepted it. The clue that leads me to believe that is that in his presser before the draft, when MB was asked about McCarron, he said he'll need to prove himself at camp. He wouldn't say that if McCarron hadn't accepted it.

- We only learned of Reilly being qualified yesterday when Eric Engels tweeted it. We don't know if he's accepted it or not. He is eligible for arbitration.

- The other RFAs that need to be qualified are Lehkonen and Armia. But MB has said that he is negotiating with both and that they will be back next year.

- The RFA players that weren't qualified are: Audette, Lernout, and Shinkaruk.

The Habs haven't officially announced all of this. We've gotten all of this info from the beat writers who follow the Habs.

The habs really don't have all that much cap space unless they make some trades, Lehkonen and Armia are both going to be signed for 3+ million. Alzner, Deslauriers, Peca, Weise gets buried saving 4 million, leaving them with maybe 7 or 8. That's not enough for an impact player in free agency, they need to get rid of some of their 3rd line players...They are gonna have 5 to 6 million of their cap being spent on ahl players, great job Bergy!

lol. Leks will be luck to get 2 million Armia 2.2
They combined for 24 goals and you’re gonna give them north of 6 million??? Wow
Did you forget the 30 plus games Leks went without a goal ?
Maximum combined. 4.25. That’s generous too

MB has up to the first game of the season to get rid of those bad contracts. On July 1st, he can sign whoever he wants... or he can.

you think they are taking a bump over their qualifying offers for a two or three year deal? It will be higher than 4.25, wow, have you seen the contracts Berg gives out to his grinders?

I don't understand why they are giving up on Lernout??
Between Brook and Fleury and Juulsen, there is simply too many players for Lernout to compete with to move up the depth chart. While it's good to have depth, I think it's time for both sides to part as the Habs can use that roster spot for someone else and Lernout gets a fresh start elsewhere.

Both Hudon and Reilly are bad but theyre still good enough to be NHLers on a bad team. They should get traded but they won't get much. McCarron isn't an NHLer but hes useful in the AHL, we should keep him imo.

Don't think anyone will trade for Hudon or Reilly but these QOs won't hurt. Waiver fodder most likely at the start of the season.

They got Reilly for two years at 1.5! I'm happy about that, he may have a better season next year. Otherwise, he'll be alright as a 7th D.

Insurance policy on the left side. Hopefully MB trades for or signs a LD man UFA.
