I've said it before, but it's games like this that annoy me the most. This is how well this team is capable of playing, but too often it looks like they've never played with each other before.
I should also say that while I do think Silf should be traded, I'm going to miss him a lot. Such a solid player, just not the right timing with our team.

I wouldn't say that either, if you read a GDT from the Boudreau era you might find more complaints(more leads to defend) about it. People hate it because it's either boring or exciting for all the wrong reasons but I'd say it works pretty well.
Can’t I just be my cantankerous self and complain about something on a fun night?

fowler was great tonight. loooked like a #1

someone mentioned he went back to his regular visor tonight. wonder if that has had any issues on his play.

we know it did with getzy when he tried to put a visor on after he got that facial injury. eventually getz went back to no visor
St when he got hit in the face early in the game he was just thinking....PERFECT

This is the only Win i've been happy about in a while. Because it was a special night for Nieds + Miller & i feel that they will go back to how things were in the next game. I still see them ending up in the bottom 3.
When they do win a game i want it to be like this, a 5-2 win or maybe a 8-1 win to let the skaters improve their stats, especially so that Henrique & Silf can improve their trade value.

Who knew all we had to do was get rid of RC.:sarcasm:

If they end up 9-12.... bm is gunna kick himself for keepin RC so long
I wonder if Gibson getting hurt speeded up Randy getting fired, it was such epic trainwreck how he handled Gibson & Randy might have thrown him out to dry cause of the players (along with being mad his coaching days are coming to an end) ?
Anyways i can already imagine Randy will ask for a interview for the coaching job in the offseason even though the answer is no:

Oh okay got some sleep, went to the game... was nice to see nieds # retired(my mom is a big scott fan so I went with her).

This was maybe the best overall game weve played all season, a lot of players looked somewhat back to their normal abilities.

Our big dmen specially seemed back in form(Montour manson fowler Lindholm) all had strong games.... not sure about the megna/mdz pairing... they wernt awful but still not something id want out on a nightly basis.

1 thing I like about BM already is hes spreading out the mins better. Everyone in the line up played at least 12 mins(I think rawney was only player under 12), and no one played above 19(silf was highest at 18:50), while on defense everyone played 16-20(manson being the highest at 21:30)… BM seems like hes just going to let players earn their even strength mins, and everyone had solid games last night so he distributed the mins accordingly.

He kept the star players out on the powerplay, I feel like this is important in the sense its giving them time to play together/fix their problems together. (getz/fowler/rakell = 4.19 mins of power play time, and perry Henrique had 2:30/3:52) …. granted idk that fowler should be receiving all the mins on the powerplay(Lindholm/Montour I think are both viable options), but I do like that he is giving them majority of the time, and same thing on the PK... hes relying on Silf/kesler/Lindholm/Manson.

Kesler played 14 mins, 3:10 short handed... turning kesler into a PK specialist/faceoff guy is prob best option right now, don't over push him.
Getzlaf played 17:22, 4:19 on pp and :22 on the PK, not wasting getz on PK, I think is a smart/important move, hes our top offensive weapon... no reason for him to be killing penalties for a few of his mins a game.

Great to have miller back.... IDK that the caps really played well. And I don't want to exactly jump the gun and feel like our season is turning around... but the team def has looked much better since RC left.... players look less stressed/more focused and happier, seeing the difference in the players faces/body language irritates me even more that BM waited so long to make that move.

in regards to niedermayer, people often forget his game tying goal in game 5 of the 07 WCF against detroit

probably gets overshadowed by teemu's OT winner in the same game but in my opinion scotty's goal is easily one of the top 5 most important goals in franchise history. helped them go up 3-2 instead of down 3-2 in the series heading back to HC

Does Scotty still work for the team? Did he talk to them brought the game? Scared the youngins into playing well

I don't know. He's in the printed media guide as a special operations consultant, and the website says he is working in off-ice player development, whatever that means. He moved his family to Penticton, BC last summer because one of his sons is playing junior hockey there, so he probably doesn't spend much time down in OC.

Had the OT winner in Game 2 as well. As iconic as Teemu's goal is, Scott had the other two most memorable goals in what is almost universally regarded as the biggest series in franchise history.

He was also our best player, or second to Giguere in the games Pronger was suspended. He came up big when the team needed it.

Sean O'Donnell said "he played his best when it mattered the most". This sums it up pretty well imho. When an elite player plays that way you're on the winnig side. Imho this was the major problem in the CHI game 7 loss. None of the elite players played their best hockey when it mattered the most. Nieds likely would have.

I still have hope Lindholm will be the same. He is the closest we have imho to do so.

Yeah Sadly he is the closest we have to that.
Of the Dmen he has the best balanced combo of defense + offensive skill on the team & on the PP he's underrated for how he produces on the PP, jumps into the attack at the perfect time or shots thru traffic.
To me seeing Hampus not being used more on the PP is like when Mike Scioscia would bench Napoli the day after he went 2 for 4 with a HR while Mathis would go 0 for 5 with 5

To be fair, how many players like Nieds are in this league? Doughty? I don't even see EK in this mold because he is not as a force as Nieds in his own end.

EK dragged a horrible Sens team on his back to game 7 of the conference finals two years ago playing elite hockey in both ends. Him, Doughty, Keith all fit this mold. As does Hedman who has has some impressive runs.

EK did it once to the conference finals, Scotty has 4 rings. Huge difference. I'm not saying EK is not as talented. Nieds just was a winner.
