Very true, but he was skilled enough a goal scorer to really produce if he was healthy. He probably went too hard and it cost him some career compiling.

Who’s going to flame you for loving Clark? A different era and he could do it all. I defy anyone to watch the Passion Returns 92-93 and not feel like you’re in a field of onions ;)

That team was unreal! Probably would have won the cup if Frazer didn't make that BS call.. I worked with his son, I always picked on his dad over that lol

I think I’ve watched that video about 100 times over the years. Clark is my favourite player of all time.
The Leafs were bad in the 80s but Wendel was fantastic. I remember his rookie year like it was yesterday. Me and my buddies all fell in love with him lol

I guess cause Pookie posted some vids of past Leaf team brawls which I enjoyed, and some of the only skill guys kind of flamed him for his post. Anyhow I saw this and it just made me smile and a shiver down the spine, I just loved the passion Wendel and the boys put in their game. Really wish he could have raised a cup over his head, he deserved it, he wasn't a money monger he loved to play for this team and gave it.

Should be mandatory viewing in the dressing room before every game.

Wendel doesn’t get the respect he deserves outside of Leafs fans. Most lists of the toughest players or best fighters I usually don’t see a mention of him. If Probert & McSorely are among the toughest in NHL history then Clark who was much smaller and went toe to toe with them many times must logically be at least as tough if not more so.

Are you suggesting that had Wendel played differently,he would have a Cup?

Love Clark, only jersey I ever bought with a name on it because there’s nobody else I’ve ever liked enough. On more than one occasion I took a “Clarke for Prime Minister” sign to the gardens. Unfortunately because of what we learned of concussions in the last decade and a half players like Clark can know longer play that style, but I sure miss that style.

I found Clark to be both a good player who was great for the Leaf organization and its fan base as well as the most overrated Leaf of all time.

Going toe-to-toe multiple times with guys who outweighed him by 4o pounds like Probert and Basil MaCrae (sp?) ... not to mention getting knee-on-kneed by that POS Brad Marchment took many games and years out of him, no doubt.

I was actually a Oilers (Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffey) fan until Wendel came into the league. It took me maybe 20 games of watching him hit and fight everything in sight that my allegiances began to switch. He was basically the only thing worth tuning in for on the Leafs for a time. My all-time favorite player.

Your post is the only correct one.

I will expand on that and continue.

For some reason Leaf fans are treating him like he's a Mark Messier or Claude Lemieux.
I remember before Gilmour showed up how Leaf fans would call into radio shows like Stormin Norman to ***** and complain about Clark that he's a bust. I remember rumours every year that Leafs were looking to trade him.
Then Gilmour showed up and changed this franchise. He was leading on the ice. Andreychuck showed up and was a strong presence at the front of the net. Borchevsky was first to capitalize with being with Gilmour in 92-93 then Clark. Playoffs came and Clark had his NHL breakthrough after 8 Seasons. He continued the success into the next season and had a career year with another great playoff run. He then got traded and returned to the Real Wendel Clark. The one that deosn't get mentioned anywhere either than by Leaf fans.

To romantisize that Clark was some sort of Mark Messier, Claude Lemieux , Rick Tocchet or a Cam Neely is beyond ridiculous.

He's a Tough Joffrey Lupul that beat the **** out of some people. That's it. Nothing more.

Okay that was harsh, But hey let's be Real.

I'm not suggesting anything. Wendel captained us to no cups. What is our end game here?

I would bet everything I have that with a Wendel in his prime on this team, the floaters on this team would be more afraid of Wendel than a physical opposition therefore you would see a team that would come to play instead of 5 or 10 minutes here and there. Oh and also the guys that just stick check and bail on going into the corners, I think Wendel would fix that as well just with a mean stare.

What a dirt bag response, so in your opinion every player on the Leafs sucked since 67? Sittler, Salming, Vaive, Gilmour, Andreychuk etc?
