Anyone remember the name of the bar downtown that used to serve 40 oz bottles of Olde English in paper bags?

Bar didn't last too long for obvious reasons.

Have to add in Ezzie's, Amnesia's, and Boca's north side. So many good clubs bask in the day.

C.I. South was an "interesting" place. Not a great club, but lots of interesting characters there.

There was a tavern on the corner of 99 Street and Whyte, I know what the OP is talking about. Honestly think it was called the International or United Nations or something like that.

The bar on 109 Street north of Whyte was The Basement.

What else hasn't been mentioned?

The Gas Pump
Santana's.
The Bronx/The Rev/Lush
Rebar was great.
Squires, can't believe it's still around.

By the U of A - the Windsor. The Library. The Power Plant. RATT. Dewey's.

What was New City called originally back when it was on 112 Street north of Jasper Avenue? Edit: Public Domain/Liquid Lounge.

Late 90s I think I enjoyed Taps on Calgary Trail on the south side.

Is the Gas pump shut down now? If so what is it now. Place was messed up.

For some reason KO Boxing would have their after parties there all the time

Isn't the Beverly Crest still open as well?

We had fun at Ernie's Steak Pit, and made the odd trip to the Burlesque Palace on Whyte. I think Ernie's Steak Pit had instruments you could play. Rock City had the stickiest floor out of every bar.

Don't remember the bar. I do remember that Reverend Run from Run DMC 'knew he had a drinking problem' when he was drinking a dozen OE 40s a day. I think his bigger problem was being a multi-millionaire and still drinking malt liquor.

the Vault downtown (which didn't last long, but was pretty awesome while it was there).

Devlins on Whyte

Fargos where Hudsons on Whyte is now

and not a pub, but an institution of drunken eating after 2am on Whyte...the Funky Pickle

think the DT gas pump is still there.

the old Franklin's on Calgary trail became a gas pump about 1991 and when it went out of business became the diamonds strip club.

Three pages and no mention of the Purple Onion? I have been to many named, oddly never been a drinker, just hanging out with friends who did.

Bars on the list I have been to?
Barry T's
Denny Andrews
Goose Loonies
Limelight
Gas Pump
Greenhouse (Also know as "The Derry.")
Rock Central
Rock City
Southside Rock
Esmereldas
Cowboys
Kaos
Union
Thunderdome
Crackerjacks
Club Malibu
Cook County
Sha-Na-Nas
Flashbacks
Boca's

And probably a dozen or so I forget.

In mine I referred to it as PO. Lots of great times there. And lots variety in the type of people you'd meet too.
