for anyone who will redo the draft please be aware that Mike Morris the Sharks 1st round pick is tearing it up in the NCAA in this his junior year.
I believe he was second in the Nation in goals and points.

Overall I would say this darft had very good top line talent but it really droped off after the first few picks

  3. I would imagine that a certain 29th pick has had his stock rise more than some of the players picked ahead of him...

EDIT--- only three teams can have goalies. I must have missed that part.

No, the three teams that thought it was important enough to take goalie have to take goaltenders. The other teams that took goalies in round 2 would also be eligible to select a goaltender. I'll change the rule.

    Hmmmmm.... Interesting indeed...

You would take a unproven Kari Lehtonen, over a 19 year old who led the league in goals, and a defenseman who has yet to come near Rick Nash.

Pens still take Whitney at #5. He has developed as expected. There is no one there I could forsee them taking instead.

Excluded: Mike Morris cause anyone who knows me, knows i've been hyping this guy since his freshman year.... He would likely be quite high on my list, even though he might not be quite as deserving yet as some.

Got sick of listing teams sorry lol.

OK......What would you like me to break?

You obviously have not followed him. The other 2 are good, but Whitney has come along well......He more than showed why he was drafted so high in his stint in the AHL last year. He would be on the Pens (probably 2nd pairing) this year if not for the lockout.

Why? PM Bouchard is coming along fine. The problem is he was a bit undersize and had a problem fitting into the NHL but is starting to adjust well. Plus his talent and the talent around him couldn't keep up and he isn't much of a goal scorer. The biggest problem is, is the fact the Wild couldn't send him to the AHL where he would be developed better.

  17. Lupul will be a future 30 goal scorer, first line winger, etc...

An extremely underrated prospect that promises to be a heart and soul captain at any level of hockey his abilities take him. Mike Morris is almost 22 years old and he's just beginning to produce at a high level at a respectable level. I wouldn't even put him in the top 100 picks in the 2002 draft.

And Whitney could just as well be a first pariing type of defenseman that runs your PP.
Whitney had a college career in which he was the team's best offensive weapon and he actually lead his team in points last year. However, the team as a whole sucked.
At the end of the year, he played in the stretch drive in Wilkes-Barre and on a team tacked with good prospects, he became pretty much the MVP. The team didn't play well enough to win a game when he wasn't there, and when he was there, the team could run on all cylinders (they made it to the finals). He had wonderful playoffs, in which his well-known offensive ability was shown, but also his defensive awareness was discovered.
There is no reason to believe he won't develop into a top pairing type of defenseman.
But as any prospect, he could turn out to be a career minor leaguer.
But that possibility became much weaker to most Pens fans when they saw how Whitney handled his first pro games.

Two things....You have to question of Talbots game well work in the NHL.

2nd: You never seen Mike Morris play. You just looked at his stats I bet, look at Northeasterns stats while your at it...there one of the NCAA's worst teams the past two years.

It also bugs me when people put down Oilers prospect Marc-antoine Pouliot for the same reason...they just see his stats on not his contributions and his skill.

You not putting Morris in the top 100 of this draft or any other is crazy

the guy has second line potential and at the very worst should be a solid 3rd liner.

I know draft position is not all that important but you are saying you would take Talbolt in the first round (a player who was drafted originally in the 9th) who doesnt even have prototypical 1st or maybe even second round talent. Ahead of Mike Morris who was a first rounder with no weekness in his game. Good hands, good skater, and good shot.

I understand Talbolt has a good work ethic but who is to say Morris doesnt.

Believe me, If san jose offerd Morris for Talbolt strait up. The pens would make that trade and run all the way back to Sidney Crosby's living room

Painfully obvious you haven't been following him. Although he has not done anything to justify himself to go higher in this draft, he has justified his draft position. Should be a top flight third line winger.
