I see him as a guy who probably won't make it in the NHL because his skill set is one that is being cracked down on. If this were 10 or more years ago I could see him being a staple of a 4th line though.
His skill set is very much alive in today's NHL.

Hronek easily for me. I think he has an outside shot at being a first pairing defender and is very likely to be a second pairing+ PP. He's well developed and I'm excited to see him play.

I still think Rasmussen will have trouble producing at a top 6 rate at 5 on 5. He tops out as a 3C + PP for me. He could be a top 6 winger, but I'd rather leave him at C as I think he's a better defensive contributor than offensive.

My add is Saarijarvi again.

Why? Smith hasn't done anything noteworthy since been a reach pick in the draft.

Thought this until his trade to Kitchener this year. He hit a different level in the playoffs that gave me some hope for him in the future. I would vote everyone up there over him so its not like its a stretch to have him added. Considered adding Pope instead but not sure what to think of him because hes a bit older

Voted Ras, add Smith

I voted Hronek . In the begging of world cup players didn't trust him, they didn't know him. It all changed to the end of tournament. Every time he touch the puck something happened . He is only 19 and looks solid playing with adults. I don't think Hughes much better than Hronek

Rasmussen easily for me as I had voted him as my#1. The season he had post-injury and the monstrous playoffs earns it for me, yet some people do not have him cracking their top 5?!
The Rodney Dangerfield of our prospects.

Voted for Ras because he has a skill set that will never run out of style. A big, mobile center/winger that has exceptional hand eye coordination and a knack for scoring from the dirty areas. He feels like a safe bet to have a long NHL career, regardless if he is a 3C and PP specialist or if he can push as a top 6 C or W.

eh he's got 63% of the vote for 2nd right now

Zadina is just on another level, even taking into account the full seasons including Playoffs Zadina just had only a slightly worse PPG than Rasmussen just did in his D+1 in his draft year and first time playing on north american ice(1.50 vs 1.42)

A middle 6 forward over a 2/3 defenseman? I’m going to wager a guess it’s because Rasmussen went 9th overall.
"A hall-of-fame center over a defenseman that never plays a game in the NHL."

I can say words too. How about we try to have a discussion.

Okay, Rasmussen, both in his draft year and his +1 year, have demonstrated nothing that says to me that he’s a top 6 Forward. His numbers aren’t good; his 5v5 play leaves a lot to be desired, he doesn’t drive play at all, and most of his points come around the net. The last point isn’t inherently a bad thing, and it’s been the bread and butter of plenty to 6 NHLers, however, he isn’t a prolific producer, which leads me to question his actual offensive accumen. The only time he really resembled a top ten pick this year was during the playoffs, which is what every Detroit periodical will point to, but I just think it’s too small of a sample size. Because of my concerns with Rasmussen’s ability to generate offense at the pro level, which is supported by his junior career, I just don’t him as anything more than a middle 6 forward.

Hronek on the other hand has substantially improved over the last two years. He’s got feet, he moves the puck really well, drives possession, and is a lynch pin of every team he’s played for, and has gained his coach’s approval every time, because of how good he is. Defensemen are harder to project at the nhl level, but he has the toolset to be a borderline top pairing defenseman, and I’d take that over a power play specialist middle 6 forward.

I don’t want this be misrepresented as hating Rasmussen either, he seems like a good kid and I think he has a future on this team, but I think you have to be realistic with what you have.
