It's been 10 years and we're still making Miller for Kane BUF/CHI proposals. When will the madness end?

Seriously though, that package for Kane is not... good. The Hawks are giving up Kane and the most exciting piece they're getting back is Mittlestadt? The deal would start with Cozens, then you add Mittlestadt, then you add the necessary pieces for salary/picks.

1)You do not trade 22 years goal scorer for 32 yr old c's and 37 year old d-men unless you are convinced they put you over the top. Jets didn't make the playoff so this is not them in any way.

2)Buffalo isn't near a playoff spot let alone a cup run. Pre Hall signing I would have put them at 2nd-5th most ping pong balls. No shot they add that salary and age.

Toews might be tough to move. Kane and Kieth, possibly with partial or full retention, could be moved easily. Chicago is in a perfect position to rebuild. Three years from now they'd probably have a developing young team and tons of cap space.

This is not a rebuild plan, it’s just a plan to dump current contract commitments. The problem with these proposals are there are not enough “futures” coming back to Chicago. It’s great that they are freeing up cap space for the future but who the hell will want to sign there if you are trading away a lot of the talent currently on the roster? At least with picks/prospects you should have the next wave of young players to move forward with.

Also, if the Hawks are trading Toews they're keeping Strome. He's a solid 2C.
