The 70's retro kitsch aesthetic of of the show is a big part of its identity and I don't think that will translate very well into an animated show.

Why animate it? Bring back the original cast and show how Bud and Kelly still live at home because they have the Bundy curse. I doubt that animation will have the same comedic effect in terms of the looks on Al's face.
