I think this really puts into perspective just how bad this draft was. I had a LOT of trouble finding people to put in from about 23-28.

1 Atlanta - Martin Havlat
2 Vancouver - D. Sedin
3 Vancouver - H. Sedin
4 NY Rangers - Henrik Zetterberg
5 NY Islanders - Ryan Miller
6 Nashville - Tim Connolly
7 Washington - Mike Comrie
8 NY Islanders - Frantisek Kaberle
9 NY Rangers - Barret Jackman
10 NY Islanders - Jordan Leopold
11 Calgary - Nick Boynton
12 Florida - Ryan Malone
13 Edmonton - Martin Erat
14 San Jose - Garnet Exelby
15 Phoenix - Taylor Pyatt
16 Carolina - Niclas Havelid
17 St. Louis - Radim Vrbata
18 Pittsburgh - Niklas Hagman
19 Phoenix - Chris Kelly
20 Buffalo - Radek Martinek
21 Boston - Branko Radivojevic
22 Philadelphia - Mike Commodore
23 Chicago - Oleg Saprykin
24 Toronto - Steve McCarthy
25 Colorado - Alexander Khavanov
26 Ottawa - Adam Hall
27 New Jersey - Andrew Hutchinson
28 NY Islanders - Tom Kostopoulos

This should tell you something about how bad that draft was:

12 Florida - Ryan Malone
13 Edmonton - Martin Erat
14 San Jose - Garnet Exelby
15 Phoenix - Taylor Pyatt
16 Carolina - Niclas Havelid
17 St. Louis - Radim Vrbata
18 Pittsburgh - Niklas Hagman
19 Phoenix - Chris Kelly
20 Buffalo - Radek Martinek
21 Boston - Branko Radivojevic
22 Philadelphia - Mike Commodore
23 Chicago - Oleg Saprykin
24 Toronto - Steve McCarthy
25 Colorado - Alexander Khavanov
26 Ottawa - Adam Hall
27 New Jersey - Andrew Hutchinson
28 NY Islanders - Tom Kostopoulos

Not one of those players is even 3rd round caliber.

i dont agree with that. a lot of those guys are way more then you can expect from a third rounder IMO.

That's pretty ugly, with that said, how does this 07 draft compare?? better? same? or worse?

They say talent-wise it's around the same (though I don't really know who 'they' are). But one thing you have to remember, there's a difference between 'low talent' and 'bust'. That draft only saw 5 of the 28 first rounders live up to expecatations, that's a huge bust ratio.

By saying the talent level is comparable to 2007, you're just saying that rather than expecting a Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza, Ilya Kovalchuk, etc with a top pick, you're more going to get a player like one of the Sedins. Low talent draft should indicate a lower impact in the NHL, and not being unable to make it.

I agree, a guy like Malone or Erat a team would be happy to take as a mid-late pick. The others are good enough for 2nd or 3rd round pick. Some people here just buy to much into the '1st rounder=star player or bust' hype.

Okay 2nd rounders or good 3rd rounders.

I think I would put Jackman a couple spots higher, above Comrie and Connolly anyway, he'll be one of the better defensive defensemen in the league one day.

Man, at the time I didn't follow prospects or the draft. I think that was the first draft I really watched, and I was so excited when the Rangers selected Pavel Brendl, and Jamie Lundmark. It is unbelievable how bad of a draft that was.:amazed:

Not even close as bad. 2000 was an OK draft. 1999 is probably the worst draft of all-time.

I agree, 2000 is great if compared to 1999. Quite a few from the first round made it: Dipietro, Heatley, Garborik, Klesla, Torres, Hartnell, Hainsey, Hossa (sort of...), Orpik, Frolov, Volchenkov, Brad Boyes, Sutherby, Justin Williams, Kronvall, and a few who are strugling but still trying (Ott, Alexeev, Hale, Taffe). That's not bad at all! Add several solid players in later rounds and you got a rather ok draft (Shultz, Bryzgalov, Pettinger, Stoll, Vermette, Paul Martin, Sauer, D.Moore, Visnovsky (!!!), H.Lundqvist (!!!), Lombardi, etc. Quite a few star players.
